Finally, after weeks of banging my head against the wall, I figure out the problem with my Doom game... then bang my head against the wall some more.
To fully understand it, you would have to back about six weeks ago. I had just found my brothers collectors edition of Doom, with all three Dooms on it. Exited because I liked Doom so much, I installed it onto my computer... only to have something pop up that said the dplay.dll could not be found and that reinstalling it would fix the problem. Well, I did that and nothing at all changed.
Frustrated, I went online to see if random people posted stuff like this to see if they would answer my questions. Needless to say... it was a yes/no answer. People said that all you had to do was find a folder called dplayx.dll on your computer and copy it and change it to dplay.dll. Since they didn't specify where to copy it to, I was posting it all over.
When it still didn't work, I calmly put the disk back into the case, then threw it across the room. Today though (or would it be yesterday now?), I found the case and decided to figure out the problem once and for all. After installing it, I located the folder again and copied it. I then proceeded to copy it in a place where the game was... in the program files. I posted it and changed the name and *POOF!* I could play it.
I realized that since the beginning, all I had to do was that simple thing. After that, I banged my head into my computer desk.
Whew! Sorry but I had to vent that, since everyone else in the house is sleeping at the moment and that they wouldn't even understand what I was talking about if I told them. If you guys just want to read this post and forget it, thats fine. You can also post problems that you had with games here as well, your call.
