I got this thought in my head about a thread where everyone thinks back about their character and why they did this and this. As well as relationship examining.
I'll focus more and friendships and relationships, you all can do either one.
Andy and Jasmine (relationship)
Probably my own secret favorite pairing, not because they are compatible and would be cute if they were together, but because it happened honestly. I was on some other forums where pairings happened like lightning quick, reality was substituted for a quick relationship. Andy and Jasmine developed, I was a little afraid in the beginning that it would happen too quick. But Jess and I were moving at our pace, keeping honest to our characters. So, like a good story the build up will lead to something. Potentially, very soon. Although I sadly leave the well developed build up, I kinda look forward to the two of them acting like a real couple.
Tidus and Volkmar (friendship)
The friendship of these two are very similar, if overly exaggerated, to the friendship Volk and I have in real life. I admit, there aren't situations like [CR] Volk wants to go kill someone and Tidus talks him out it. Instead there are times Volk wants to chase down someone in his car, I talk him otherwise.
...It's actually not that different.
I have more characters and relationships I can discuss, but I wanna see what everyone else thinks. Like Jess's view on the Andy and Jas relationship, or the other relationship/friendships out there.

Huh..Well I suppose if you dont mind my ranting, we can see what I can come up with.
1. Nia/Aya
This was something, again, founded with the great Jess. XD; We had the idea that in the Saints arc, that Nia was sweet, and that..really she didn't deserve to die: She's such a harmless person in reality if it weren't for the problematic tourette's and fire death. However, like Aya, he never judges anyone: He befriends anyone who would befriend him, and despite she was his enemy at the time, he still sought after her. It was sorta a love at first sight kinda thing. I especially enjoy the fact that they got together during a fight to save the world sorta thing: it was truly a risk on both parts, and then heartbreaking, because it was a Romeo and Juliet pairing where both families hated each other, so to speak. Overall though, I'm happy that it went the way it did, especially the Amore fight between Grey and Aya: Cmonnn. That's almost so cheesy, that it's awesome. XD;
2. Malice and Aya: I knew Malice from the beginning of his time here, and apparently he knew some people here too: Basically, we became friends pretty quick from the getgo: So much so, that even our characters became real good friends: Both sets of friends can confide in each other, and fool around/joke around. It's nice, and real too: Its not a fake thing so to speak, and it really did break hearts on both sides to see Malice leave when Aya considered him a best friend. However, the real friendship remains, of course. XD
3.Aya/Caramel: This is pretty similar to the Malice/Aya relationship, but there's always that room for the speculative canon relationship. Obviously, they both care for each other as friends, and Caramel's trust in Aya matches his compassion for Caramel. They're like best friends who look like brother and sister or something..well..minus the whole anthro vs human thing. However, they're both very similar in their need for adventure, and basically give each other a reason to have fun.(Sounds like a lame horoscope thing. ))
4. Aya/Kishin.
Roxa, Aya, Van, Riliath: These are those badasses you see walking down the street with sunglasses on, in slow motion while the rain bullettimes past their bodies, without a single drop hitting them. In all seriousness, this is an awesome little gang they got going, especially because you basically have people with such different values working toward the single goal of peace of the land and anti tyranny. It's like the Yellow Turbans if they were cool: (Thats a Dynasty joke for those of you in the dark) And they're probably gonna end up having a lot more mission based ideas together in the future.
Im trying to think of more, but considering that we basically had there: Aya's Lover, Best male friend, best Female friend, and best group, I think that summarizes my feelings.

AWWW XDD What a cute idea!!! I'm going to get a little rambly and emotional at times here ahhhhh D: Andy and JasmineOMG MIIIKKKEEE *big awesome hugs* I'm actually quite surprised and very, very happy with how this has worked, given our characters' traits and all. I'm playing a teenage girl of all things, and one who hasn't had a lot of male influence in her life growing up so being so close to a guy suddenly all the time makes it sooooo easy for her to just...fall for him and ultimately make a HUGE mistake. And Jasmine did fall for him quite early. It was not only something she struggled with in her own mind for awhile, but something that was also encouraged by multiple characters in game. My biggest worry with that was that in past games when I've played a character like this the other person usually suddenly had their characters change feelings and instantly BOOM, the characters were in a relationship. |D I was quite happy to know that you, Mike, kept things very level and stayed true to your character the whole way through. In fact, that made this whole experience even better even though they're not "officially" in a relationship yet. It truly is awesome to sit in the middle of a thread and go "oh oh oh, is something gonna happen?" and when something DOES, just a hint of anything that brings them even remotely closer always puts a stupid smile on my face (and at times, I admit I'd do a RL dramatic fist-pump ). I really do look forward in the near future to play these two in an actual relationship. They've been keeping us on our toes so far and at times even been hilarious or cute; somehow I don't think that's going to change very much when it all comes together Lana and KouichiBWAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAA. man, this was SO rushed. I mean...yes, Kouichi happened to approach her LONG ago when Lana was in a fit and where he reached out to her and she basically told him to screw off, he DID manage to plant a funny friendship seed in her at least. Suddenly it was like she'd show up and if Kouichi was there she'd be like "Oh great, HE'S here, annoying little..." he was annoying to her XD; Yet at the same time she couldn't quite deny that it almost felt good that someone (other than Ludro) wanted to be her friend. And srsly, that kiss on Earth was probably the most hilarious thing I've played out on this site. ...I'm also very serious when I say that if it wasn't for Kouichi, Lana WOULD have been dead in game long ago. I'd planned from the very start to kill her off. Dammit, Miri XD Alexander and ZekeAs friends these two have been very awesome. Johnathan and I haven't played out too many interactions with them, though we've specified in posts that they've hung out a lot together since their first meeting in Bright Beach. Zeke came into Alexander's life at the very best moment, I think. Alexander was mopey and struggling to keep things together and always trying to look cool and collected to his servants. Alexander was also very much still infatuated with Harumi and hurting that he'd been trying so hard to win her and she let her father decide what she should do (which was stay away from Alexander). Zeke enters the scene suddenly with a very cheery attitude, something that if it wasn't for the war and pressure put on him could easily match Alexander's. It's like in Zeke Alexander has found a little piece of him that he really misses and on top of that Zeke doesn't judge Alexander for being a member of the Sumata. It relieves Alexander and even has helped give him a little hope for the future of not only Santo-Luce, but for himself as well. To Alexander, it really truly does feel good to have someone be unbiased and see him for who he is, not what he came from. That's what makes these guys so fun and cute to play at times ; we need to do more with them. It's also in this respect that I see them also very much like Aya/Nia, where the same thing happened XD; Though Aya/Nia was a very "love at first sight" relationship--that one in particular, though very instantly brought on I am curious to see how it turns out. I've never done a relationship like that before in a game but just like Alexander, Nia is very much happy to just have someone appreciate her as herself rather than her connections with the world. Vincent and JasmineIf anyone's noticed, there are a lot of times I'll post a thread between these two and either a.) post in bursts and then neglect it for weeks/a month before I get back to it, posting in bursts again or b.) dump it altogether at some point. I don't forget about these threads and they don't become "not interesting" to me, it's that I can't bring myself at times to work on them. They bring up bad memories, really. Those who know me well enough know I come from a 'broken family' and have very terrible, if not horrifying memories of my own dad. I've stated a few times that as a wee little girl, Jasmine was very close to her dad. Vincent absolutely adored her but felt like he had to leave the family in order to protect them. He shows up years later after his daughter is grown up and since then they have been trying to get to know each other and at times even fighting with one another. Growing up as a little kid my sisters were too young to play with and mom worked nights. I only had my imagination and paper/crayons to keep me company (even as a kid I never watched tv much)--much like Jasmine, my dad and I were very close when I was younger. He made us dinner, he put us to bed, he played games with us, he fixed our toys and bikes, set up the pool outside, took us for ice cream etc. etc. because mom couldn't always do that. He was a GREAT dad...who just also happened to have a very, very, very bad drinking problem. And for years it'd been like my own dad was gone from my life =/ I moved out and away from him and my mom and felt like I hated him for never really being there for me. But dammit, I realize I don't hate him. I can't. He's my dad. He did so much for me. It can be very, truly heartbreaking writing interactions with Vincent and Jasmine sometimes because as they speak to each other things like that pop up and there's absolutely no way in hell I can avoid it. She has to work out a way to forgive her dad and they have to find a way to get back what they'd lost. D: sadly, in rl, I'm doing the very same with my own dad. Except I can write this story a happy ending. Mine sadly isn't going to end that well. BUT ANYWAY. Despite how deadly close to home it hits sometimes (and it'll get even worse before it gets better) I gotta plow through it =p I am SO coming back to this thread once I have more...ahhh! I have a TON I know D: THANKS FOR DEALING WITH MY RAMBLING GUYZ.

OkOkOkOk I had to jump in on this x) So I guess I'll get started with the most important one I guess Gensayce and KaraThis is actually something we had planned from the very start and it's something that we plan to progress farther. The idea was that we would have this relationship which spans originally from this honourable warrior swearing an oath to protect her leading to them being in what is becoming a very serious relationship, Much like the Andy/Jess partnership we wanted to progress more slowly with Gensayce wanting more to abide his oath and protect her rather than allow himself to be distracted by the pairing. But aye, it's a very cleverly well thought out pairing and should go well ^_^ Gensayce/RiliathHaaaa I actually deliberatley created Riliath as Gensayce's opposite so that they could have this very abnormal friendship. The fact that Gensayce is calm, collected, calculating and represents ice whereas Riliath is hot headed, rash, very forward and represents fire is this brilliant personality clash which in a way I guess is similar to the Tidus/Volkmar pairing ... Plus the fact that Leo (WHO'S BACK YAY) who does the posting for Riliath and me are brilliantly close friends and plus Leo's ginger therefore has a hot head (: Roxa/Ave/EvaThis is just one massive schizophrenic MPD thing which I thought up. With the idea that Roxa is torn in his mind with three different personalities, Himself who excells in melee combat and has more of a thinking wind/air pressure style, Eva which is the embodied spirit of his deceased sister who allows Roxa to excell in dark magic and then finally Ave which is this embodiment of Eva's rage grants Roxa this increased melee strength. But yeah I haz a plan to clear this relation up some more ;o Roxa and Alessia Ahhhh this is a most interesting relationship considering that they've technically been together for about 1000 years? x) Alessia is central in Roxa's life meaning most of what he does is for her, the forming of the Kishin, the leaving the saints and such on and so forth even trying to solve his inner demons for her. The Kishin in generalThese guys are supposed to be the badasses of Allorum x) They usually fight for the heroes but let's say a hero steps out of line and accidentally kills a civilian the horsemen wouldn't stand for that and they would chase said hero down and make him pay. They are effectivley vigilantes but they're badass vigilantes. Oh and that reminds me Aya. We need to get you a horse xD

Elexa and Zelos (pairing)
Well...what to say about this one, I guess it's similar to KouchixLana all Miri's fault. There's not really much of a relationship going as much as an intense fascination that could tip to one of them spending the night at the other's castle. Zelos was intended to be Andy's rival to the very end, but that's kinda out the window now. I don't regret it, but I do regret not showing an event (or a more believable one) to cause the character to turn around. It just happened way to sudden for me.
Kevin and Profeta (pairing)
...I'm still not sure how this one ended up existing, I can't even remember who thought of the idea. I think it was me. We were able to slip it in oh-so subtly even though it wasn't our original intention to have these two together, let alone married. Soon the Balancer of Allorum and The Fabled Prophet were man and wife, we had a loose backstory made, and I wrote up a slightly better one in Footfalls of Fate, but their relationship was one I'd have liked to explore more.
Should Head Admin agree, I'd like to explore their relationship more in some form.

LOL at Mike and Jess - whoops!
Honestly, I don't remember how Elexa/Zelos ended up. It just sorta... happened. I mean, Elexa's fascination with him was in a purely academic manner. She thought he was useful. She thought he was handsome, and intelligent, too, but mostly, he was useful. And he was just so 'numb' to everything, he just... intrigued her. There's not really much more to it than that. And then, there was. I'm sorry all my characters' relationships start so suddenly!
As for LanaxKouichi - I'm sorry I thought Lana was too cool to kill off. I mean, I had set out to save her before I realized she was supposed to die. Nobody was posting in that stupid thread and Kouichi is just the type of person to go and try to redeem people, he is! And he'd jsut had a big issue with Angelus (who, if they'd ended up spending more time around each other, he'd also have been trying to coax 'back onto the right path'), and I needed to cheer someone up to cheer myself up. Then... well, then there were jokes made and cracks thought up and it all jsut sorta... happened.
Hmmm... other relationships....
Suisei/Trucido
Man, I am jsut so sad I never got to do much with her. She was originally planned to be Trucido's biggest groupie - the kind who cried herself to sleep at night when he married Lilith, but who can't bring herself to hate the 'better woman' because she made Trucido happy. It was going to be a new experience for me. It just never really worked out; she's really mostly a filler character now, and it's something I'm pretty sad about.
Alex/Miri
This is another couple (in the sense of two characters, not in the sense of relationship or pairing) that was originally going to have a lot more done with them... and with the two-year gap betweent he end of this arc and the beginning of the next, I might get the chance to do something about it. I also might right a short-story/one-shot series takign place during the Earth arc, when I never really got time to do any of the stuff with Alex that I had meant to.
There's some personal history here with these two that is, honestly, based off of personal issues between myself and someone else. Maybe the reason I just stopped doing stuff with them is because I lost the drive - for both vitriol and forgiveness.
I had a very bad experience with a friend of mine. We stopped talking for almost a year. When Alex came on the forum, that year was comign to an end, and I was looking for some solace and some reconcile. That phase of my life is over. I'm trying to find more motivation for the character than the person he's no longer quite so based off of.
Alexander/Alex
Oh my god, if Alex/Miri is the failed inspiration, this is the one I wish we did more often. It's amazing. It's a best friendship - one based off of trust and shared experiences. It's gone far beyond bodyguard/bodyguarded. We need to do more stuff with them! But real life'sbeen getting in the way. *pout*
Alexander/Lamuria
I love the way this has been turning out so far, with their little "date". Oh, poor Alex. Both Alexes. I absolutely enjoy playing Lamuria and Jess has been so mazing with her responses. I think the reason our characters get along so well is because Jess and I are such good friends. We also have very similar senses of humor and don't mind torturing our characters a little; I think our humor is the best of all oruthreads, although the serious ones are also pretty awesoem.
...
.....well, I guess it's time for me to wrap this up. There's more, of course, but Bel has a fix for me and I wanna know what you all think.

Post by Zeke Omoihake on Aug 6, 2010 19:31:07 GMT -5
Oh boy, this should be interesting. Well, let's start with...
Seigmand/Onyx: A bond of comrade re that had to happen, but not necessarily with Onyx. Seigmand is the kind to develop bonds with people that he believes will a) be valuable to him and b) will help him in his current goals. He's also just as quick to abandon a relationship the second it no longer proves to be either of those. Onyx was simply one of the few that seemed to be able to deal with his curt and overly analytical personality, as well as challenge it. Onyx was just as goal driven a guy as Seigmand is, not to mention he was the only one to reveal his treachery to the Sumata to Seig.
Seigmand/Alexander: This was one I had planned for forever ago, but it didn't go quite as planned. When Seigmand had seen Alex as a favourite of Trucido, he had planned to use Alexander against Trucido as merely another pawn in his master plan. Yet Alex proved to have more of a spine that Seig gave him credit for, and either out of respect or through the slow development of Seigmand's character away from the user and abuser of people he came to more of a friendship with the young king. To be honest, without people like Alex and Jasmine I believe Seig's character would have very much stayed the way he was at the beginning.
Zeke/Donovan: obviously a relationship built from the start, I'm actually sad I didn't get to do as much with these two as I would have liked. Don represented a strong older father figure to Zeke. At the same time though Zeke found that the more time he spent with Don the more he realized that Don needed similar support from him. They were suppose to be very much the perfect team, always having the other's back, but never afraid to challenge the other's views and beliefs.
Zeke/Alex: lol Jess pretty much covered this one. While not right away, I had decided Zeke was gay early on in the arc. Though most of the relationships with men he'd met in Allorum turned out to be either short lived or with tough powerful guys, Alex was the first guy Zeke met that seemed to appreciate his softer side as well having spent enough time with to develop something. To be honest there were a few others that I had had in mind, but Jess had asked to do posts with Zeke and it just sort of grew from that.
A.B.A./Van: This one was actually made by complete fluke. I had created her backstory and got her approved, only to later check the other Saints made before her and find one that was also made by a scientist in Guasto. Naturally the rest got planned around that. A.B.A. would have found comfort in someone who was physically different like her, and while a direct bond of love was never cemented in her, A.B.A. felt Van was her closest and most trusted friend. Or at least he was until the Saints arc ended. As to what happens with them now, it'll simply be a matter of time.

Jeez...That's so awesome that you guys all have your own synopses on your characters and that there's so many relationships.
I mean, Some of you have so many characters, and I have trouble deveoping my extra ones.
I suppose when I think of more, there was the Aya/Profeta slight business relationship, I mean, that's what got Aya involved.
Just that whole business transaction, it was the shadiest thing Profeta did, for the reason of making Aya into a hero fighting Trucido. They didn't know each other as much as they could, but it was a job, and Ayalan never lets a job/contract be a failure. I just enjoy the fact that something so shady ended up so enlightening.
Uh, there's also the Ayalan/world thing.
But you'll figure that out eventually.

Post by Vash, the Angel's Moon on Aug 7, 2010 0:19:26 GMT -5
Well, are a few more I'd like to talk about.
Vash/ABA
This has such potential.... such promise. They squandered their gifts... and in the end, ti consumed them...
*cough* Woops. Sorry. Wrong spiel.
ANYWAY, they seemt o be getting on really well, and I really hope there's more done in the future. They're such perfect opposites - ABA, driven by revenge, and Vash, a stark pacifist who holds life, all life, as sacred. And yet, under that, they're really not all that different. Of course I can't say too much more without risking spoilers, but let's jsut say that in more ways than are obvious, they are exactly the same.
There's chemistry there. I don't know if it's pairing chemistry, or friendship chemmistry, or why-do-we-have-to-be-rivals chemistry, or any/all of the above, but it's there.
I wonder what John has to say on the subject?
Kouji/Kouichi
I can't believe I didnt' think of this before. The two brothers; one of the most important relationships in anyone's life is with one's siblings.
They're just the typical brothers, really. They're there for each other. They support each other. When Kouji starts being too much of a jerk, Kouichi steps in. When Kouichi's being too depressed about his past, Kouji is always there for him.
The whole siblign thing was a big part of their interactions in the source material, and I wanted to keep that as much as possible. I don't really know if it worked or not, but I hope to do more 'brotehrly' things with them in the future. Someday, I want to have a thread with Kouji and Lana, and them just sittign and talking out their differences, probably getting into a fight, over Kouichi. Not because Kouji has any sort of misguided twincest thing going on (blegh, ick!) but because even though, technically, Kouichi's the older twin, Kouji really has a big-brother complex thing going on.
The two of them work together well - theri personalities are a nice offset, and it's been pretty hard keeping their balance. I still don't think I have Kouichi quite right to "show!Kouichi" but I dunno, I like him better my way.
Kouji/Past friends (Takuya specifically)
This is something that gets mentioned a lot by the Twins, although mostly Kouji - the people they went on past adventures with, specifically "goggle boy" or Takuya. You're probalby wondering why I'm putting this up here, but really, it's because even though Takuya is not nor ever will be a character on this forum, he was honestly Kouji's first real friend, and their friendship has affected him immensely. While Kouji can be an arrogant jerk on occasions, he's nowhere near the prick he was at the beginning of canon, and that really owes a lot to Takuya and the others. When he and Kouichi first met, it was Takuya who told him about being a brother. He owes a lot of who he is to those early friends.
Actually, I was originally debating adding Takuya as a character here... but I decided I would keep it to just the twins. First of all, I was still a little embarrassed about borrowing from Frontier (something I'm mostly over now), and second of all, I didn't feel it would be fair to flood the forum with so many people who know each other. Besides, this is really somethign special for Kouji and Kouichi to share; the others would be out of place. He will, instead, be simply a fond memory and a friend to go home to.

Post by Yeligar Maelstrom on Aug 8, 2010 10:10:33 GMT -5
Hmmm, Might as well
Yeligar/Vincent (Friendship) Well, they meet when they were young, and Vincent took the girl that Yeligar wanted, and vice versa and went to the ball years ago, and they became good friends. Then he vanished, then he reappeared and did some fun stuff, like destroy a Chaylbs mine. I was kinda afraid that I was going to make a loner character again, so when Jess made Vincent, I asked if they could have been friends, both being in the Crepusculum army together.
Volkmar/Incendia *Fighting/relationship* This was my fault. DC was made a character, and I made joke, saying that if they ever got together, that they would be like Dr.Cox and Jordan from Scrubs, always fighting, but they would be more violent. Then we tested that theory, and it was funny.
Trucido/Lilith *Relationship* This was something that just started spontaneous. Trucido was working on finding a good plant to use for his soldiers, and then Lilith helped him, then they were a couple.
I think that is everything I have atm.

HAHAHA I forgot about Vincent and Yeligar XDD;
Man. Seeing as how Vincent met Yeligar through Hala, Vincent really didn't like Yeligar to start with. We never did establish exactly what drew them together as friends, but it was kind of fun to just go with it. Whenever I've really needed to do something that was boldly heroic and involved a very clichéd journey of "let's save the day and score some damsel in distress in the process" I always turned to Volk to have Vincent and Yeli do something XDD;;; even if it didn't make much sense. For the most part we've had fun. I can see Vincent's view of Yeligar changing quite a bit. He used to take orders from the guy all the time before he faked his death. Since coming back and acting entirely of his own volition and actually having a choice of listening to Yeligar or not (as this isn't the military anymore) Vincent's changed a ton. He's always been used to commanding ships at sea and leading battles and being in charge, though having to report to someone. As of late he's either been doing things on his own, with a friend, or being the one in charge of an operation. He's felt that Yeligar lately is either "losing his touch" or seems to be so distracted by something that some of his orders or ideas seem to be entirely nonsensical and Vincent nowadays questions a lot of what Yeligar does.
Who knows, maybe it could even be the start of a broken friendship D: WE'LL SEE HOW IT GOES, YEAH?
