Alexander blinked as he looked out to the ocean just as Zeke had hoped for, his expression a quizzical one.
"What are you talking about? There's nothing out there!" he said before turning back to Zeke, "as for Trucido, he's not scared of anyone except his wife--then again, most of us are scared of her, she's a bit of a crazy one. Trucido himself though is most definitely not one to be messed around with, though. As for Queen Lunestise....I've spoken with her already."
He let silence linger for only a short moment before the young king's eyebrow raised, his eyes staring at Zeke with an odd interest then as he said, "You ask a lot of questions, you know. You're also quite the optimist--just where do you stand in all of this mess that we call a war? If you don't mind me asking, that is. I've told you a little about me, afterall."

By the time Alex looked back, Zeke was crouched awkwardly over to grab his paintbrush. He looked like a clumsy idiot, but his psyche was once again lying still in the sand and his arms were back to normal. "So, you've been to Milicia? Wonder why she didn't tell me at all..." He said quietly to himself. "I mean, huh must have just missed it I guess. Those things are pretty quick after all." Zeke forced a fake laugh as he sat back down to keep painting.
The reversal of his interrogation caught him off guard. He hadn't expected the guy to take an interest in him at all. After all, what would a king want to know about a common painter in the first place? "Me? Well, it's..." Zeke stopped short, unsure of what to say. After all, if the guy had even went as far as to talk to Milicia, he must be anti-Sumata. What was holding him back then? Zeke sucked in a deep breath. "I'm actually one of the Heroes sent from Earth in the effort to save me and my friend Don who had died and were given a second chance if we managed to get to this world and save it from the horrible evil of Trucido and the Sumata XIII." He blurted it out before taking in a much needed breath of air.
Oh god, did I really say that? Why did I say it like that? Stupid! Do something cool. Zeke looked around and then smirked. As soon as Alex turned away his brush took to the sky, flying off to the distant horizon before drawing out a whale just emerging from the water. Hoping to distract Alex he pointed outwards, shouting "Look again! It's the same whale!" as he brought the magical creation to life in time to let Alex see it leap and twist in the air before disappearing into the water, and then from existence at all.
"What I meant to say is, I'm one of the great warriors brought from Earth to help save your people. I'm Zeke Omoihake, the painter from Earth!" Zeke stood up, striking his most valiant pose as his brush lingered beside him, throwing out a pair of quickly drawn fireworks into the night sky.
Oh yeah, much better. He grinned a big goofy grin, confident he'd come of as cool as possible.

Alright, this was so much to take in. First he heard the guy tell him he was apparently from Earth? Was he like Angelus?
Zeke pointed out the 'whale' again, apparently, then. Alexander's gaze quickly turned back to the ocean, watching the animal seemingly fly in the air before splashing into the water again. His jaw dropped slightly, confusion written all over his face.
"...I've never seen one of those before, I never even knew they apparently existed--what did you call it again?" he commented, but turning back to Zeke in time to watch him pull off his over the top heroic speech/pose. In response, Alexander blinked.
And blinked.
And blinked.
And blinked...
"So...you're here from Earth to help stop the Sumata? How many are there of you?! Did you ever meet a fella named Angelus?" Alexander asked, "nice dance, by the way."

Zeke had honestly hoped for more. Applause, wonderment, even a little fainting from the awesomeness of his reveal would have been great. His head and arms dropped to their side, and even his brush hung low like it too was disappointed.
"Uhhh, yeah that's pretty much the crib notes version I guess. And yeah, I met Angelus like once. He was the one that got most of the Heroes to Earth during that big upset. Okay guy, seemed like a bit of a downer though. Why do you ask about him exactly?" Zeke pouted a little, grumpy that Alex seemed more interested in some guy than the Hero that was right in front of him.

Alexander couldn't quite place his finger on it, but he saw immediately that he seemed to do something to upset Zeke. You know, if the drooping arms and brush didn't signify it enough already.
'Oh great...what did I do? I didn't mean to, and I don't want to keep him upset, it'd be nice to keep him as an ally, too...' Alexander thought frantically in his head for some way to redeem himself, but that was hard when he had no clue what he did wrong to begin with. Obviously something he said...
"Why Angelus? I just hadn't seen him in awhile, actually. He joined as part of the Sumata for awhile but then 'betrayed' us...I guess he was a hero all along, though? He and I had a chat before he left, just didn't know what he was up to--nothing major," Alexander shrugged and then tried to do some damage control, "so uh...that brush there, it...it shoots fireworks? They're bright, too, it's actually kind of cool. How did you learn to do that?"
Trying to steer the conversation in a different direction, see how this goes...

Zeke did a total 180, beaming with delight at Alex's question. "Yeah, actually my psyche does a lot of things, more than the little display I put up." Zeke threw out his arms and added a bit of unnecessary flair to his painting as the floating brush swooped against the night sky. "I've actually been training with this thing a bit before I came here. Before I got to this world, it was a tool for survival. It was the difference between life and death each day. It's only since coming to the lands of Crepusculum and Santo-Luce that I've been able to explore it, to really unleash it's potential."
Zeke chuckled to himself as he commanded the subtle strokes of his brush on a large object, adding the final touches before holding his brush still to admire the image. "Experiencing all that I have, I've learned that it's easy to destroy. To kill something, I need only draw a circle in the air. To create something though..." Zeke held out his hand to grasp at the drawing, clutching a bouquet of flowers as he brought it to life. "...now that's a real challenge." He twirled around and held the bouquet of Earth flowers out to Alex.
"It's nothing quite like what I'd expect a king to be used to, but a little taste of my world is only fair given what I've seen of yours." Zeke's smile grew shy and he couldn't be more appreciative for the darkness that concealed the embarrassing redness on his face.

Blinking, Alexander took the flowers from Zeke. He looked down at them, quite amazed that the man had only to paint what he wanted and it came to life like it did. He couldn't help but chuckle again and smiled up at Zeke.
"Uh...t-thanks, they're...that's really impressive, actually," he started, staring at the flowers, "these flowers are so unique, unlike anything I've ever really seen here. They're beautiful, really."

"Yeah, beautiful." Zeke said with a dazed tone. Finding himself at a loss for much else to discuss he averted his gaze back to the painting. "I uhh, I should probably finish up. I mean, that is if you don't mind hanging around for a little longer?" His voice almost pleaded to Alex. He enjoyed the man's company, and he had to admit he didn't really want Alex to go quite yet.

Alexander looked at Zeke, almost ready to laugh at the look on the man's face. He couldn't help it, it was almost like he couldn't say no to him.
"I don't mind, I can't see myself getting much sleep tonight anyway. I'll end up going back to the castle and pacing around in front of the fireplace, all brooding-like and serious," he chuckled, trying to be humorous...didn't really work unless he did something classified as an 'epic fail' usually though, "...what are you doing for the rest of the night, then? I should hope you're not sight-seeing in the dark. What inn are you staying at?"

He hadn't really thought much beyond his plan for the painting. All Zeke had really wanted out of the night was to escape from the violence and intensity of his role in the world for one night, and go back to who he was before his death. It had been everything he wanted it to be and more. Zeke's encounters with most of the people of Allorum had either been those of opposition or support under grave circumstances, and it was nice to have a chance to really bond without any strings attached. Even his fond memories with the Crepusculum soldiers were always dampened by the understanding that any of them could be dead the day after. He'd always hoped they would all survive, but if Allorum had taught Zeke anything it was that hoping didn't make anything happen.
"I'm not really staying at any inn actually. Me and my friend Don are camping not too far away from this beach. We don't really have much in the way of money on this world. Most times we do little odd jobs around cities and villages to get us by for the day. I didn't really have any plans after my painting though. I don't suppose you'd have something in mind? After all, a king must have something to do for fun in his own kingdom." Zeke focused his eyes on his painting as he spoke. It kept his mind calmer and his behaviour less embarrassing.

"You're travelling with your friend, then? Well, thankfully you're not alone, especially recently with these battles breaking out; things are getting more and more violent, people are getting restless. I apologize if anyone in my own kingdom is becoming or has been anything less than pleasant to deal with lately--they are scared. I can't blame them, though..." Alexander pocketed his hands again, flipping his head back with a smile to Zeke, "which is why I'd also say that while Santo-Luce is still considerably safer than most continents on Allorum you'll travel to, it's still not very wise to be camping outside. I invite you and your friend to join me in my castle. There I assure you you'll be safe."
'Especially since I had some "cleaning out" done with the distrustful staff, that is...' he thought to himself. Zeke seemed like a good fellow, adorable in an odd way, even. Put a smile on Alexander's face, which was something he really needed as of late, nothing much was giving him that natural happiness like he really wanted. He only wrongfully assumed that Zeke's mentioned friend, Don, was the very same.

Zeke threw a smile back at Alex as he added some of the final touches on his artwork. "Santo Luce's castle? Yeah sure why not? I've already been to like 3 of the castles in this world, I'd love to see yours. Heck, maybe I'll make that a goal while I'm here; to see all the castles in Allorum. What do you think?" Zeke played it cool and relaxed, but inside he was bursting with excitement to run off and tell Don they'd found another awesome place to stay for a few days.
Stepping back Zeke admired his work under the florescent light and feeling confident in it nodded his head in approval. "There we are. All done." Zeke grinned at his work. While the foreground showed Alexander sitting relaxed on the beach and looking his way, the background was alive and dynamic as waves churred in the distant horizon, birds dotted the far off sky, and just for fun a whale was in the middle of diving back into the water, his body tilted such that it looked to be falling backwards into the ocean. Artist licensing was half the fun of creating for Zeke.

Alexander frowned at the mention of Zeke's crazy dream to visit every castle in Allorum. Even he himself hadn't been to all of them, and it certainly didn't interest him to want to go visit any or some of them at all really...
"I...I don't think that's a good idea. Some people are your friends in Allorum, the royals are very hospitable in Santo-Luce, Crepusculum, I hear Unda as well as Alberisato. However if you were to spill you are a hero to some of them aside from Queen Milicia....I'm afraid they'll let their hospitality slip if you know what I mean..."
And seeing how things were going, it really would be terrible for Alexander to start making a new friend, allied with the heroes (hell, it definitely would help HIM in the future he was sure) and then finding out that they were too naive and ended up getting murdered in another kingdom.
However, Alexander smiled at the painting as Zeke announced its completion. He stared at it in awe, captured by the smooth shapes and the way the colours flowed flawlessly together--he truly was an artist, it was admirable. And yet he raised his eyebrow at the whale...such an odd creature, he'd have to ask Holmes about it.
"That came out truly wonderful, Zeke. You are a marvelous artist," he complimented the man genuinely, "is your friend nearby? If we are all done it's probably best we get heading--I do have people who will be really worried about me afterall. Without me they probably won't even let you in the castle, everyone is so paranoid right now..."

"Hey I can keep a secret alright. Besides, after this whole thing with Trucido ends, then the royals won't have any reason to hate us will they?" Zeke replied with cheer in his voice. "Don't worry. I'm not going to just jump into enemy territory till the enemy is gone." Zeke ruminated how sweet it was that Alex cared enough to warn him though. With that and his compliment to his artwork Zeke could feel his lips weren't wide enough to hold the smile that came.
Clasping the painting under his arm carefully so that nothing smeared he released the rest of his creations and with a blink of an eye they were immersed in the darkness again. "Sounds like a good idea Alex. Don's just sleeping a little ways away. I'll go wake him up and we can head to your castle right away." As they made their way towards the nearby meadow Zeke suddenly realized what he was leading Alex to. Spinning around to block him further Zeke held his hands out to stop him. "Uhhh, Alex, before you meet Don I should mention he's... Ah, what's the best way to put it? Not a people person. So don't take it too personally if he's a little coarse with you, okay?"

"Thankfully you are a smart person as well. I should think some of the royals, should Trucido fall will come to their senses; it's hard to tell at this point anyway," Alexander spoke as they walked towards the meadow. Upon being stopped by Zeke Alexander raised an eyebrow, slightly tilting his head to the side.
Not a people person, huh? Somehow Alexander still kept the notion that this "Don" would still be a pretty alright fella as he couldn't for the life of him imagine Zeke actually hanging around with a guy who was unpleasant. He'd barely known Zeke and he could already tell he was a very optimistic guy, always trying to look on the bright side of things. Usually those 'sunny' people attract others like themselves, right?
Right?
"I'm sure I'll have no problem with him," Alexander assured Zeke before they approached Donovan, "it'll definitely be best you do the talking first if he's as coarse as you say he could be."
