He shook his head. "It'd never work..."
Then, realizing his king couldn't tell what he was talking about, he spoke softly.
"The Crepusculum Kingdom. Not only do they have the largest, most extensive library in the world, according to rumor, but they're the only ones likely to have the history of the war... and be unbiased about it."

And again, Alexander blinked.
"That's...awesome, D! Why don't we go out there, then? We'll find a way to make it work, and we'll find everything we need out there. And then we'll be super-sages, and take on the world!"
Okay, so now he knew he was being silly but Alexander felt like he really needed a good laugh. He got the odd feeling that things for awhile were going to be...grim for him.

"Well, we'd have to sneak in in disguise... we're not too popular there right now," he reminded Alex. "The largest section of the library is private and part of the royal castle, but they do have a section open to traveling scholars."
How he knew this, he didn't know - odd details abotu Crepusculum had been popping up in his mind, as of late, as if he had researched it back in his mostly-forgotten past.

"Hmm..."
Alexander had forgotten indeed about that detail...which was REALLY bad considering how he was planning on making the trip out to Crepusculum anyway to have a meeting with Queen Lunestise herself, should she allow it.
Perhaps this could actually give him an excuse to go out there without looking so suspicious to the other Sumata...
"Excellent. Then we'll prepare ourselves some scholarly costumes--I want a beard," Alexander ran his hands along his chin as he spoke, "I seem incapable of growing my own. But we'll prepare and venture forth and find what which we seek! 'Cause we're from Santo-Luce and we can do anything..."
The librarian rolled her eyes...but smiled. She never remembered Bradley being this...eccentric, that was for sure. Many probably would have looked at Alexander and figured the kingdom was going to fall because of his odd way of dealing with situations, but somehow she personally felt content. Almost as though nothing had changed, though it was changing a lot.
"Do you want a book on how to act, your majesty?" she joked.

Alex sighed. "I don't think it would help," he mumbled under his breath. "I'd need to hide my wings for sure, although that's not a problem...."
He began pacing up and down the row, attempting to come up with a plan for dealing with the situation.

Alexander took a seat as he watched Alex pace. He placed his chin in his hand and thought. They needed disguises to get into the library, but the way Alex was acting made him get the feeling that they were still missing something...
"....I'd say you could go as a horse, but I don't think they'd let the horse in the library," Alexander stated blankly, "am I missing something here or what?"
The librarian shook her head and slapped the book she held into Alexander's lap.
"I'd say you best pay attention and listen to Captain Alex at the moment--he's got that look in his eye, you know..." she responded, remembering only too well the facial expressions of Alex when he was determined to work. She saw him every now and then in the library the past few years since he'd gotten there, anyway, and he was always such an eager young man--it made her happy to have him in there.
It made her happy to have anyone in here, really.

"With the world in a state of war, we might need identification to cross the border - desperate times and desperate measures and all that, y'know. Crepusculum is just one kingdom against the rest of the world - they wouldn't want spies in their country. We'd need a believable reason for traveling into Crepusculum in such a time - refugees, perhaps, or those with a mission somewhere... a pilgrimage, perhaps..."
He continued to pace, thinking, breathing, almost attempting to absorb ideas from the very air around him.

Alexander continued to watch Alex pace.
"...Musicians? I like musicians," he suggested simply.

He stopped.
"Musicians...? Musicians, musicians.... why would musicians be in a library..."

Alexander's eyes widened and he got out of his chair.
"Searching for...music? History?" he blinked.

Alex looked stunned.
"We're traveling bards, inspired by the war between the Sumata and Crepusculum to write a ballad about the wars in which Crepusculum has played a part - true history spiced up with legends about heroic deeds. One of those wars being the endless conflicts between Nerezza and Santo-Luce."

"Fantastic! You're good at this, D. That way, no one would suspect us at all...we're just eagerly searching for knowledge...can I still have a beard?" Alexander said as he began to walk around the room aimlessly again. As silly as he was acting, he truly was excited by this; the truth. Nothing was more exciting than the truth...
And yet at the same time, he was almost afraid of finding out. What if he hated it? He didn't want to regret seeking for the real answers behind his country's history, and that of Nerezza's and the reason why they apparently hated each other so much.
'Well, Dad...hopefully you won't look down on me for this. Please tell me I'm doing the right thing...for once?'
He'd lost himself in his thoughts for only a brief moment before he turned back to Alex and grinned.
"I say we move right away. How about you, D?"

He nodded. "We'll get together our disguises and leave as soon as we can... and I'll go and see if I can dig up some information on what documents we need, if any, to get into Crepusculum Kingdom."
He smiled. "The truth is always worth knowing," he reassured Alexander.

Alexander smiled at Alex before he gave the librarian a polite bow.
"Thanks for your help. Don't get bored," he told her as they headed out of the library's doors.
((shoot, I should have asked if we continue our adventure here or shall we move it to Crepusculum itself?))
