It saw that she was alive and sounded pleased, almost seeming to smile at the rage in her eyes and posture, then jumped in front of her, knocking the cats away and kiling any that got too close. It seemed to be protecting her.

Lana stared for a long moment, keeping her fighting stance as she watched the lion attack the creatures around them and then...separated her from them?
She narrowed her eyes, she thought she was seeing things at first, and then as it continued she dropped her guard entirely and stood straight up, resting most of her weight on the leg that hadn't been poisoned earlier. She watched, with a slightly opened mouth as the army of cats quickly depleted in numbers.

One more roar and the few remaining cats ran off. The lion turned to Lana and looked at her, deep blue eyes seemingly asking 'Are you alright?'

Lana's eyes widened again as the lion turned to her. She quickly looked around her and then took a few steps back, falling over and landing on her cut up and bloodied back.
"AGH! DAMMIT!" she cried and quickly scurried to get up. As she did so she gave it a confused look and continued, "what the hell are you supposed to be?!"

It looked down at it's paws, giving a shrug-like gesture with it's mighty shoulders. It, too, seemed a bit confused. It closed it's ees, seeming to concentrate, and a moment later, darkness swirled around it, then cleared to reveal a very tired, battered, and confused Kouichi kneeling in it's place.

Lana's jaw dropped and it hung there for the longest time. She blinked multiple times, blood dripping from her back. It annoyed her so much that she took her coat off and threw it to the side. Normally she’d have silently complained that that was another kickass coat of hers to have been disposed of recently, but at the moment she was worried about bigger things.
Like this guy who miraculously appeared to be an armoured lion not too long ago. And helped her, of all things. It was surreal, it was stupid, it was…it was…
Kind of cool?
Maybe it was the mass amount of blood she was losing from the wounds all over her body, maybe it was the poison kicking in and doing its thing on her and messing with her mind.
But at that moment, Lana gave Kouichi not a look that showed she cared, nor a look that showed she didn’t. She limped over to him, staring down at him for another long moment before she, surprisingly, held her hand out to him.
“…Are you alright?” she quietly asked him. Her voice for the first time since she’d first met him seemed to be a shade more gentle than before.

He looked up, blinking, then took it, accepting her help.
"I... think so," he replied, still looking kind of confused. "Worn, though.... it took a lot out of me."

"Yeah..." Lana replied slowly and then closed her eyes, trying to ignore the dizziness that was starting to come to her, "I think that took a lot out both of us."
She rested her back against a tree for one more moment before slowly opening her eyes, taking a deep breath and saying, "We should probably continue, then? We should be almost there, right?"
Lana didn't know. She knew they were both in need of some kind of medical aid and possibly a nap, but that was about it.

Kouichi looked at her... then, tired, beat up, and not really caring if she smacked him, started laughing. Hard. He laughed fora good while, feeling good that he could finally relax and let loose. He could've cried from relief... but he wasn't going to do that.
Finally the laughter died down, and, responding to Lana's probable confusion, hee answered.
"Don't you get it? That was it. THat's what I've been searching for... I just found it. That's how I was able to... do that."
He wasn't sure what to call it, really. Even for him,it was pretty wierd.

Lana was silent for a long, long, LONG moment as Kouichi got all of the laughter out of his system. Her face's expression never changed, and the moment he was done she raised her eyebrow again at him, tired and slightly annoyed.
"No, I don't get it!" she spat, "how could I have 'gotten it' when you never told me?!"
She limped around, ready and wanting to kick something hard...but couldn't. The dizziness got to her too much so she ended up just letting herself fall to her butt and rest against a tree to relax.
"Sorry, I'm just...it was a cool thing you did, there. I'm not saying I needed your help or anything, I'm just..." she was quiet again, trying to sort her thoughts out. Finally she let go of her stupid pride and took a deep sigh as she said the next words out of her mouth really slowly, but clearly, and sincerely.
"...you know what? Yeah, you really did save my sorry ass, there....thanks."

"Not a problem," he replied, sitting down and leaning against a broken stump. "Just... doing what I do, I guess."
He looked out across the dark landscape, eyes piercing cleanly through the darkness, to see the bland yet strangely fascinating scenery. It reminded him a lot of the Dark Area he knew every corner of, on that other world far away.

"Heh, fun job, huh?"
Lana rolled her head to the side and looked over at Kouichi. "So...what? You've found what you're looking for, now what do you do? You go hunt down your enemies and kick them around a bit or do you uh...I don't know. I gotta get myself out of here and fix my stupid leg..."
She looked at it now and raised her eyebrow at the swelling of her leg yet. "Stupid cat..." she muttered.

She'd gone this long with him, helping him, accepting help from him. At the moment she was tired, sore, and seemingly slowly losing her mind. Why the hell not?
"Yeah, sure. Let's go. You probably need something looked at, too," she seemed to have stopped fighting him now, and rather let him in instead. And that was odd for Lana. She slowly rose back to her feet, then.

He offered her a shoulder. "I'm kind of drained, but I can get you out of Nerezza or to a healer just fine. How far are we from the nearest village?"
He didn't mention that once he got his strength back, he could try to transform agian to make their journey easier. He wasn't too sure about his own abilities... or the reaction of the Nerezzans to something like that carrying their Captain.
