"I already delivered my message," he said. "And... Milady would want to meet you, if you wouldn't mind working an unusual job."

Aya raised an eyebrow as he smirked. "A lady of her esteem would want to meet me, you say?" He folded his arms, "Well I suppose it beats staying around..fill me in on the details of the job. I'll accept regardless just for the generosity of your nature." He smiled and nodded at Vaan- he actually seemed like a good soul.

Vaan laughed. "I'll tell you on the way... it's a bit... sensitive. Do you have a mount? If not, I'm sure I have enough travel cash left over to rent you a horse."

Aya grinned and put his hands in his pocket, following along side Vaan now. "Don't worry. I don't need a mount." He pointed to his wrists, "I've got the means to keep myself going for days without much but willpower." He indeed was a different type of mercenary as he looked and pet the Strider again, always feeling a need to comfort her so she could get used to him. "And it'll be a pleasure to see your Queen, and I'm sure this'll be one of those weirder jobs.." He shivered at the thought of some.

Vaan laughed. "The only 'wierd' thing about it," he said, "is that you'll have to throw out all knowledge of what you believe to be the way things stand in Crepusculum." He mounted. "Can you keep up?"

Ayalan bowed to Vaan as he smirked, "Remember, I'm a wanderer, I change my rules every single day." He used his levitation spell and went forward as he floated along side the mounted messenger, "I shall be just fine. It shouldn't be too long, correct?"

Vaan shook his head, smiling in appreciation of the mercenary's spell. "Not at all, if that spell can keep up with Windracer."

Ayalan smiled, and looked at Vaan, "Well of course the spell cannot, but I can..for a short while at least." He grinned and nodded, "So how far will this journey be? And why is it so bad to speak of your lady's name in these parts?"

"Because... she's a Sumata. And this is Crepusculum. And, for now... the two are bitter enemies."
He sighed, kicking Windracer into a slow trot. "The truth is, politics inside the Sumata... aren't so simple as all that."

Ayalan folded his arms as he floated ahead alongside Windracer, thinking deeply.."Hmph...A sumata. Now I understand." He laughed gently and shook his head. "You know, I was always considering just laying at home once my love passed on two years ago from a war's battle." He admitted lightly and out of the blue, "But now all I can do is war..it's odd the things we fight over, especially now. Who's who makes a decision on what's right and wrong in society, it's always inevitable and always leads to the saddening events of war." He looked up and nodded.."So you gotta make the best of every day." He grinned and laughed gently, floating out over the edge of a lake, "I'll be happy to meet your Lady regardless of her rumored state. I cannot judge because if I did, I'd be on a side of this war. Opinionated."

Vaan laughed. "Well... it's a good thing you're not. You wouldn't believe the trouble I had trying to get a group of Propheta's heroes to believe me."
He shook his head.
"I'm getting ahead of myself, though. The truth is... Trucido Damnedblood, the head of the Sumata, is a real rat-bastard. I mean, Milady has a reputation for trickery, deceit, you name it, but whatever other people think of her, what Trucido actually is puts it all to shame. Except maybe the 'seducing babies from their cribs'. That would be more Lilith, Trucido's consort.
"Needless to say, Milady hates them both witha passion. The only reason she ever allied herself with Trucido is because Nerezza's troops, while some of the best Guerillas on the face of Crepusculum, could never hold back the amassed armies of the other 12 Sumata Nations. Even hiding behind Crepusculum Regnum on land, Unda's navy would kill us. With me so far?"
He looked over at Ayalan for confirmation.

Aya smirked and shook his head; he officially knew a good amount of both sides that he was thinking about, "Well some people aren't easily subject to change. You already have a bad connotation with your side I suppose, albeit it may not be the truth."
Ayalan's ears perked up a bit as he went to walking again, his concentration broken, but his pace was face, "Ah..I've heard of the name. Trucido...I've seen him recently too." He shook his head, "The man is pure evil just by looking. Your Queen may seem bad, but let's face it, even heroes do things that are evil in retrospect when you think about it."
And now Ayalan learned a lot about this battle; always happy to learn. "Hm..I see what you mean. However, what about the other Sumata? Surely she can't be the only one who hates the man." He folded his arms, "In fact, a coalition could easily be possible with the right man- But I definitely get what you mean. In the other retrospect, I mean..think about this, if there's seriously a coalition against a man of pure evil, I think the Sumata would be a great means to an end..but...its not that easy is it?" He grinned over at Vaan.

Vaan grinned. "I knew asking you to listen was a good idea."
He thought for a moment, organizzing his thoughts.
"The truth is, a coalition is forming... of sorts. The Sumata is terribly divided, every man for himself... some of them, like Undan Queen Suisei Fukaku, are totally behind Trucido 100%. Others... like Milady... are a hair's breadth from turning on him, or already have."
He looked down at Windracer's back.
"That's the truth of it. Milady is trying to establish good connections with Lady Queen Milicia Lunestise of Crepusculum, and the Heroes, because she secretly supports them.. and needs their support, badly, for when she pulls the switch on Trucido. Because, like you said, it's just not that easy." He frowned. "She needs to keep Trucido thinking that she's on his side. At the same time, she needs to inform the Heroes and Lady Queen Milicia of his doings. There are a few more than just Nerezza in the Secession, of course... but not enough, not nearly enough."
He turned back to Aya, smiling. "One of Milady's Captains, Lana Princel, defected to the Heroes separately from us. Of course, Milady has cut all ties to her, but until then, to keep up proper appearances, she needs a Captain who can pretend to be a Sumata but still secretly help her help the heroes, because if one single captain is unaware of her plans, it could be disastrous for her, or so she says. This is where you come in."
Milady will be pleased I've solved that problem, he thought.

Ayalan laughed at his first point, with a nod, "I see. So there is unrest in the kingdom far beyond that of what some people know..and you say the heroes won't listen? Let me guess, more like they don't trust you as much?"
He shook his head with a bit of disgust at the thought, "If it meant taking down a man like Trucido...I don't see why anyone would object." He facepalmed simply, thinking as he continued down the stretch of path.
Ayalan only nodded, "Your Queen, is a brave woman, no matter what the rumor. She could be easily killed for this you know." He looked down and pondered the fact as he turned his head as he spoke up again, "So you're saying that we have a problem with communication..hm..and now I should be a Captain of the Sumata?..."
He laughed and shook his head, then rethought, in his own head, Wait, What?!
Ayalan stayed in a bit of silence, as he put his hand up to his chin, and he stayed in that position, walking idly as he watched Vaan.
Aya could only smile at him and speak up, "Captain Ayalan Invargas reporting for duty if your Queen will allow it."
He knew that this double agent business would only help in his full mission, and perhaps help him figure out what he really came here for, as he walked along side Vaan, "So tell me the terms of endearment, as a Captain, what would be my roles and duties..despite my rank being a farce in a sense."

Vaan shook his head. "Not a farce. I doubt you'll be able to keep your position once Lana returns, but... I'm sure Milady could arrange something favorable for the service."
He thought for a moment. "A Sumata Captain serves as a bodyguard to their King or Queen, and also as a comander of troops directly under the ruler. Unless personally dismissed by the ruler or retired of old age, something which happens rarely, a Captain stays as such until death. At that point, the captaincy either goes to the Captain's second-in-command, or to the person who killed him, if the Captain was killed in a duel for the position. Should a Captain be dismissed, something which happens only when a Captain betrays their country, the ruler chooses a new Captain from the ranks."
