Ayalan held his hands up in no protest, "The point is, this could aid a much greater cause, and I'm always ready for that." He smiled at Vaan, and listened to the rules carefully, "I'll do what I can then, I understand that I will have to do what best manages your Lady, and hey." He nodded at Vaan, "It'll be an honor to do what I can for an esteemed individual." He smiled.

Vaan smiled back. "I'm glad I could find a solution to this problem," he admitted. "Milady was agonizing over it. There's a few in the Midnight Court she was considering, but wasn't sure if she could trust, and I didn't trust them. You... I get the feeling we can trust you." He nodded. "Windracer likes you," he said absently, patting the Strider. "That's strange... she doesn't generally like people until she's known them a while."

Ayalan laughed at his comment at first, "I know how it is..And Hell, as long as I don't get killed by your queen herself, I can do what I can do." He smiled and put his hands in his pockets, "Plus, I'm made to be a fighter and a magic user..I can help your lady as much as I'm needed to." He bowed gently, "No matter who I'm working for, I stay by my word." He had an alternative reason actually, but not one he would let be known at anytime. Aya pet the Strider as he grinned, shaking his head.."Well She's a great mount. I'm jealous. She seems very loyal and beautiful." He pet her neck again, "Who knows, maybe we met before." He laughed, jokingly.

Vaan cocked his head for a moment, as if listening, then sook it. "No, I don't think you've met before. She just likes you and... trusts you." He 'listened' again, and then chuckled. "You're very friendly and good at petting Striders, evidently." He shrugged.

Ayalan laughed and looked over, "Don't worry. I'm only joking. She is amazing." He walked now, and looked to Vaan, "So tell me more about what I have to do to look good for your Queen." He grinned, folding his arms, "I mean, I know of somethings in this region but I'm afraid she'll dislike me." He licked his sharpened canines and then adjusted his gauntlets, as if he was worried about his image.

Vaan laughed. "You're the answer to a problem that was bothering her. She won't dislike you. Honestly, you look fine as you are - Captains are known for their combat abilities, not their appearances."
He paused.
"Um. One thing. You might want to work on your night vision."

Ayalan folded his arms and laughed, as he nodded, "Well My combat skills.."
He looked down.."Eh..on my resume, I've been in the last major war, as a Commanding officer. And I'm still alive so.." Aya grinned, and shook his head.
Ayalan spoke up further, "The Night? It's the best time of day. Haha." He grinned and shook his head, "Why do you say that?"

At that moment, they came upon the Dark Border, an ominous line where light just dropped away into eternal nighttime.
"....that's why. It... doesn't bother me," Vaan did not elaborate, "but most light-dwellers find it hard to see. During our daytime, the White Moon hangs overhead and gives us light. During nighttime, only the stars keep us company, and the lightless Black Moon, if you believe the legends."

Aya's yellow eyes glowed in the dark as he smiled at Vaan, "I think I can get used to this. Easily."
His eyes gave him a renewed sight of the area, as he watched everything, all he could see in the sky were stars, but everywhere else was clear, outlines and objects that moved were easily seen by him. "I like this area, I wish I had come here before. tell me what the downside is to this though." He grinned at Vaan, still walking as he watched all around him

Vaan's own blue eyes glowed faintly in the dark, and he smiled.
"Predatory cats with poison fangs, creatures that eat fear instead of flesh, all the wierd things you can think of came about here. Nerezza is the land of demons, or so they say, and I'm not sure they're exactly wrong."

And Aya laughed, "Oh the usual business then." He folded his arms and walked through the night, holding his sides, "I could get used to it here."
He then looked around, seeing very little movement, "Nothing I can't handle. So how far will it be to your kingdom?"

"Not far. Technically, we were in Nerezza as soon as we crossed the Dark Border, but the castle is a ways ahead. We might be able to stop in town to get you a proper mount - you must be getting tired."

"Mnn. I see. Well at least it shouldn't be that much longer," He then shrugged, "Well, only for the fact that I don't want to look tired out by the time I get there, I suppose we could find myself a mount. Any chance we can get an exotic looking one?" He joked and grinned, shaking his head, looking around the darkness, his eyes glowed and he saw a lot of the surrounding area still.
"So what should I do to look better hm?" He smirked wondering about it.

"Look as you are - Milady doesn't really care for appearances. As for exotic mounts, Striders are par for the course here." He shrugged. "If you don't mind, that is."

Ayalan fist pumped a bit out of happiness, "That'll be just fine.." He smirked and folded his arm.
"I was part of a cavalry unit and I got to work with a ton of different mounts in the wars of the past.." He sighed and shook his head, "It's been awhile since I was commanding an army though. But on my own I can do what I need to."
