"So, did you really want to go the ball with him?" Yeligar asked her. "Look... I am sorry if I forced you to come to the ball with me. I would not be surprise if you want to leave."
"So, have you fought your feelings for Hala? I mean you did send her an invitation to her. You must have been with other women, so what makes her so special to you?"

Hala didn't glance up at Yeligar, her eyes fell to the floor as they entered the great hall.
"I'm...not sure. I mean, you have you understand that he's not really that much of a gentleman, he's a big fake in that respect. A-and he's a dirty-minded fool of a man that I'm sure has had his own fair share of women. He's full of himself and snarky, and..." she could already feel the anger rising as she spoke, "...I...I guess I was really only going to be coming tonight to help me decide if he was really even worth anything. I figured I should, he won't leave me alone and...somehow I can't shake the feeling that he's got some good in him."
She'd let herself trail off and immediately she turned her gaze to Yeligar, a bit of surprise flashing in her eyes.
"I-I'm sorry. And you didn't force this on me, it just...it was all a big mistake, I guess. A-and really, if Mr. Loque wants to be that much of a pig-headed goon, assuming the worst between you and me and turning around and picking on Eva right away...well, I guess that means he'd been trying to play me all along and I really mean nothing to him. I'm just another fool, and he's a stupid man."
She sighed heavily as she continued, "I apologize, this is your night to celebrate and you should be having fun. I just don't know what to do, is all."

Vincent really didn't care to talk about his own personal life, it was no one's business. No one's. This woman was clearly up to something and it kind of irked him. A lot. He lead Eva past everyone and right out to the floor, feeling like he needed to physically do something to keep him from getting too uncomfortable. He pulled her into a dance and began to lead, much without asking her first.
"Yeah, I sent her an invitation. The least she could have done was tell me 'I'm sorry, I'm seeing that one-eyed jerk' rather than make me think I had a chance, though," he spat and then took a deep breath, dancing would help calm him down, "as for other women...yeah, there's been some. Don't remember any of them, though. I can barely remember faces and names of even the more recent ones. Hala, though..."
As he moved, he looked over Eva's shoulder and right back at Yeligar and Hala. She seemed to look uncomfortable about something.
"...I remember Hala. She saved my life. She kicked me out of her house. She's a tricky woman, you know that? She's a smart one, she is. Sees things in different ways than lots of people I know, can find good things about even the ugliest of anything and has a nice smile. Knowing smile. She's observant...did I mention she's tricky and kicked me out of her house several times?"

"I know she is tricky. How else did we become friends?" Eva said as she dance with Vin, "And it looked like you were too late. So, instead of trying to convince her to go with you, you tried to make her jealous."
"It is fine, Hala. I am not a party type of a person." Yeligar said, "And this is more where all I do is to say hi, and then sit back down. Enjoy yourself Hala, I am going to be in my chair. " He walked over to an open sit, and sat down.

Vincent raised an eyebrow.
"Hey, what is this? Oh, I get it now. You're her friend and you're both playing your mind games with me! I mean, what do you mean I was 'too late'? I asked her first...I think..." Vincent looked away a moment as he furrowed his brow annoyedly then, "and why would I go and try to convince her otherwise after she'd already said yes to someone? She'd get mad, and I don't want her mad. I want her to be happy, so I'd rather come out here and make sure she's at least safe with that knucklehead."
And there was no way he was going to own up to trying to make Hala jealous. Nope.

"That knucklehead is a good friend of her, but I don't think they are more than that." She said, "I just think that he needed a date just for tonight. But I can see why men would go after her, she is so beautiful. I think that is why she normally has the large stick around her to beat the men away."

"I..." Hala trailed off, watching Yeligar leave to sit down. She sighed, standing yet where she was with her eyes darting around the room. It was actually very uncomfortable standing here alone like this in the middle of so many people.
"Are you alone, miss? Would you care for a dance?"
Hala nearly jumped at the unfamiliar voice talking to her. She turned her head straight in the direction of a tall, well-dressed man with small glasses and brown hair slicked back.
"Me? I..." Hala started, throwing a glance in the direction Yeligar left and then another towards Eva and Vincent before turning back to this strange man, "um...s-sure. I don't see why not..."
He grinned, taking her hand and leading her out to the floor. He pulled her in close (almost a little too close for her liking) and in moments he was striking up a friendly conversation with her as they danced.

"When I was visiting her she had a habit of drugging the tea, she didn't use a stick on me. Though I do agree she is absolutely gorge--waitaminute," Vincent suddenly stopped his dance with Eva, grabbing her shoulders and giving her a hard stare, "friends?! They're only friends!? Why the hell wasn't I told about any of this?!?!"
Just over Eva's shoulder then he saw Hala out dancing...with a man who wasn't Yeligar. His eye twitched slightly as he watched them.
"...She's being poached again," he grumbled, having had almost enough and ready to attack.

"You never asked. I am not your maid." Eva said. She turned her head, and looked at the man. "You want to dance with her, then cut into the dance. Be a man, and don't hit him." She then lean to his ear, "Thanks for the dance."

Vincent stared at her blankly. Like he was really supposed to ask about any of this. Geez.
He backed away from Eva then and looked over to Hala and the strange man, shaking his head.
"I'll do better than that because you forget that I am a man," he retorted before leaving her and stepping across the room towards the other two.

"Were you here alone?" the tall man asked Hala as they continued to dance. She brought her shoulders back uncomfortably and raised an eyebrow at him, studying his face. He seemed to be pretty unreadable to her, a seemingly permanent grin plastered on his face. Didn't seem to grasp the concept of personal space either, every time she tried to get a little to herself he'd pull her back in.
"Why do you keep asking me that?" Hala responded and he looked almost confused.
"I don't keep asking you anything, miss. Just making conversation," he replied. She sighed and looked around for Eva and Yeligar. She didn't really like where this was going.
"Did you need to step outside for fresh air or anything?" he asked her as he stopped their dance abruptly, "here, maybe we should step outside, you don't look too well."
"I'm just fine. I just...it's fine," Hala pulled back, hoping he'd get the hint and let go of her. He took his arms from around her but held her hand tightly as she tried to walk off.
"Well, wait a minute. I just want--"
"I want you to let go," Hala said firmly, "I need to go right now."

Vincent made his way quite leisurely around the room, hoping to do something really cool and just, you know, slip in between the two dancers. He paused a moment when he saw Hala looking uncomfortable. He looked from her to the man, and then he watched her leave and he had grabbed her hand. Hala always looked as sweet as she could, but even Vincent could see she was getting mad.
"....Well, Eva, so much for being a 'man'..." Vincent muttered to himself as he cracked a few of his knuckles and approached them, tapping the man on his shoulder and saying, "hey!"

Hala's attention directed itself to Vincent. What the hell was he doing here? She looked from him and the other man and used the moment to rip her hand away and back up a few steps.
The man on the other hand gave Vincent a pleasant look and answered, "Oh, hello there...uh...who are you?"

Vincent grinned. Just the very response he wanted.
"The guy who did this," he said as his balled fist came smashing itself square into the man's face, sending him straight to the floor.

Hala's eyes widened as the man, bloodied and unconscious hit the floor in front of her.
"V-Vincent!" she burst out, quickly looking around at panicked faces that stopped to see the scene. Hala brought her hands to her cheeks and looked around at everyone.
"I...I...h-he was making me uncomfortable..." she tried to explain and she turned back to look at Vincent, unsure if she should start yelling at him or not.
