Yeligar walked to a mangled ruin that was once a house. He looked around and found some flowers on an unmarked grave. He stared at it and then said, "Hala, I can not believe someone killed you. I thought you were too stubborn to die." He looked at the lake and remembered about 25 years ago
***
"Yeli. YELI!" A girl with a blue beret screamed in the woods, "If you don't find a log, I am leaving!" "I found one!" a boy with a helmet shouted as he raised a hand in the air. There was a piece of metal that was extended over his right eye. "Now we can make the door for the house!" They walked over to a large rock with a hole in it. Yeligar placed the log, and it made a door. "Ok, so now what?" He asked. "We make a baby!" "WHAT, NO!" "We have too!" Yeligar's face was so red, that he ran out. He was so embarrass that he did not see the low branch and it cut his arm. "OW!" "OH-NO! What do I do?" "I dunno, but we can't tell her." He said, as he rubbed his arm, as the small cut started to bleed.

A young girl with bright blue eyes and long blonde hair wandered in through the very same woods as the other girl and the boy. She wore a blue, lacy dress with long sleeves and carried in her hands a basket that she filled with flowers and other odd things that she picked up along in her adventure--leaves, twigs from certain trees, and feathers from certain animals.
Bending over to pick up a nut that fell from a shrub, she heard a commotion before witnessing a young boy crash through a series of sharp branches and he cried out. She stayed frozen where she was, watching him carefully as he noticed that his arm started bleeding. Biting her lip, the young girl stepped forward as the boy didn't seem to really know what to do with his bleeding arm.
"D-do you need to fix it?" she spoke, her voice was very soft.

The girl and the boy looked at the girl that was about their age. They said nothing at first, then the girl said, "If you can, please. We do not want her to find out." The boy then nodded, and removed his hand from the wound, to let her see it.

She blinked at them, tilting her head to the side slightly as the boy removed his hand and she stared at the wound. It was a simple cut, luckily, nothing too major. It bled enough, though.
"Who is 'her'?" she asked calmly, setting her basket down and stepping forward to grab the boy's arm. She looked it over and placed her finger on the outskirts of the cut, mumbling to herself a simple spell that she could barely remember the words to. The cut started to glow brightly, and in seconds the skin resealed itself. The girl rubbed her hand over the healed area to make sure she had it all taken care of.
"That is it. It's better now..."

"The woman that watches us . She has a long last name, but she hates us. She will do anything to get rid of us." The girl said, as she watch Yeligar getting healed. The boy rubbed his arm, and looked at it. "Thank you...ma'am" He said as he gave a bow, "Are you a healer?"

The girl replied with a short giggle and shook her head.
"I'm not really a healer, I don't think. Mother says I am special because I can do things that other people cannot and that I need to use it for good--I try to help people whenever I can. I'm not really supposed to let anyone know about it, though..." she frowned, remembering her mother's harsh words. She mentioned something about a mistake her grandmother made once because of that...
She turned quickly and grabbed her basket, trying to change the subject as she threw in, "I-I'm Hala Lockheart. Who are you? What are you doing out here?"

"I am Evangelia, and that is Yeli." She said as she smiled at him. "MY NAME IS YELIGAR!" the boy shouted, then he looked at her, "And sorry, but we don't have last names. We were making a house out here. It is her day to pick the activity."

Hala giggled at the two of them, even if she was slightly confused.
"You don't have last names? Why is that?" she asked, entirely curious. She blinked at the pile of logs and sticks that made up their 'house' and she smiled widely at it as she added, "that is a very nice house, by the way."

"We are orphans. We can get one when we are older." Eva said as she looked at the house, "We are trying to live there, so we don't have to go to the Orphanage." Yeligar looked around, "So, Hala, why are you out here?"

"Orphans...you do not have parents?"
Hala stared up at the house some more before she fiddled with the basket in her hands.
"Um...Mum told me to go outside and play until I see the linen hanging on the clothes line--that's supposed to be my signal to come home, usually after daddy leaves."

"I was found at the shore of Shimmering lake." Yeligar said. Eva then looked and said, "Is your father a bad man?"

Hala gave Yeligar an uncomfortable look, biting her lip and fidgeting with a couple of flower petals in her basket.
"I...I don't think I'm allowed to talk about that, actually..." she mumbled and turned her gaze away, as though attempting to hide a really dirty secret. She tried to redirect the conversation again.
"You said you were found at the Shimmering Lake? How? Do you even know who your parents were?"

"I was floated there. There was a violent storm that past over the lake before, and my parents must have died." He said plainly, then Eva blurted out, "Do you want to be our friend Hala?"

Hala frowned as she listened to Yeligar. It was hard to imagine her life without her parents in her life, even if her father was scary at points and upset her mother. She jumped at Eva's outburst.
"I...um...okay? You both seem friendly enough to be friends..." she answered slowly.

"Yes! I have two friends now!" she said as she held up 2 fingers. "I guess I do too." He said, looking at her, "So, what is it like to have a family?"
