"I'll do exactly that," Hala laughed as Eva made her leave. She took another quick glance around the store and then looked back to Yeligar.
"Are you excited for the ball at all? I'm sure it'll be wonderful," she said, trying to keep conversation going as they waited for Eva to return.

"Well, I am not a dancer, but I know a few steps..." He said as he looked around, "Hey, Umm. Now this is going to sound weird, but how should I ask Eva to the ball?"
*Near the end of the street*
Eva, as looking around in a trinket shop, looking for an item. She then stopped, and found an eye patch. It was circular, and look like great condition. It was perfect for Yeligar, but when she looked at the how much it was, it was for 2 gold. There is no way I could buy that for him... She thought as she then looked around. The plump man was outside with a fan, and fanning himself, even thought it was that hot out. She then put it down her shirt, and picked up an elegant feather for 2 silvers. She paid for it, and held on to it, as she walked back towards Hala and Yeligar.

"I believe everyone can be a dancer if they practice enough. As for Eva," Hala's smile was warm as she answered, "I'd say just try to keep yourself calm. Be a gentleman about it, too. What are you so worried about that would make you question it? I can't see her actually turning you down for a dance or two."

"Well, I am just worried that I will look like a fool in the end." He said plainly. He pulled out a cigar and started to smoke it. "I think she sees me as a friend and nothing more."

((gahhhhhh sorry for it being so damn late D: ))
Hala grinned.
"Ohhh, I see...well, I think you just worry too much," she tilted her head to the side as she spoke, her hair flowing down her shoulders, "in the end, you'll only be a fool if you don't try, right? If I were Eva, how would you go about doing it right here? What would you say to me if you pretended I was her?"

"Ok, ummm." He started to think, and then he looked at her, and said, "Hey, I was wondering if you would like to go to the Dämmerung Royal Ball with me? It would be a great honor." He then smiled. Eva walked over, and said, "Aww, Yeli got the courage to ask someone out." She pulled out the eye patch from her shirt, and said, "Here, this is a really good one. But I got it for a steal."
Yeligar was freaking out in his mind. It looked like he asked Hala out, and then Eva gave him an eye patch. He felt awful about this. "So, Hala, what is your answer?" Eva said as she looked at Hala.

Hala blinked as she looked between Yeligar and Eva. She immediately brought a hand to her mouth, mumbling "oh my..." before she squeaked out her laughter.
"I...no no no. I mean--" she turned to Yeligar first, "that was just fine. That was perfect..."
And then turned to Eva, "But he wasn't...Yeligar? It looks like you have something to say..."
She was trying to direct the spotlight to him--now was his time to 'shine' so to speak.

Stepping into the scene now was a man around the same age as the other three. He was a fairly built man with tanned skin and bright blond hair, standing proudly with usual black outfit and long, draping cape.
This could only truly half describe Vincent Loque in his entirety. The rest was through clear observation as he bee-lined his way straight through the crowd and towards Hala, actually, having seen her only down the street. He'd sent her and invitation to the ball with him awhile ago but alas, the lady had not responded.
And it wasn't until Vincent got into earshot of her and the one-eyed fellow that he realized why she hadn't responded. Apparently she was going with him instead. Okay, so maybe the guy didn't look like a bad fellow, but something in Vincent's heart sank as he saw them together.
'I...guess she really never was into me. Well damn...' he thought, almost a little lost at the situation. He had hit on her and she refused him anything, but they'd frequent letters to and from each other and he had thought that she was really starting to open up to him, as he to her.
...Guess not.
Great, so now he just approached the group looking like a fool. What to do? Play it cool, of course. A man was supposed to show that a woman couldn't hurt him--Hala Fraus could not hurt him and he'd prove it to her!
"So that's why you never accepted my invitation to the ball, Miss Fraus!" Vincent spoke loudly, glancing from her to Yeligar, "I never knew you were already seeing someone--you sly woman, you. That's alright, you go have fun with your boyfriend then and I'll..."
He then turned towards Eva and gave her a flashing grin.
"Why hello there, ma'am! Does a cute thing like you already have a date for the ball? I'm not the most handsome fella there is but it'd break my heart to see a sweet lady go all alone."

"Sure!" Eva said, as she looked at him, "Hey, this could be a double date." She looked at the other two. Yeligar just stared. "Y..yea. That sounds great idea." He flipped his hair back, and tied the eye patch over his eye socket. He looked at Hala, and asked "Hala, do you need a dress for the ball?"

"Excellent!" Vincent exclaimed and then stopped himself short as he blinked and smiled at Eva, "I uh...what's your name anyway, miss? People usually call me Amazing, but Vincent will suffice. Shall I meet you by the front door that night? You're not going to stand me up, are you?"
He chuckled as he spoke, trying to really play up how 'fun and charming' he was.

"Oh, I will meet near the gate of the castle." She said, " I am Evangelia, but people call me Eva."

Hala on the outside kept herself fairly calm. Really, it was a simple mistake and she really had no reason to be mad about that.
Vincent on the other hand just boiled her blood. And why did she even care so much about it, anyway? The man was a creep to begin with, even if he did show some genuinely good qualities and characteristics. That was it, she was just falling into it all along even though she thought she'd been 'ahead of the game' so to speak.
And look what happened, he did exactly what she had expected him to do. Ditch her. Run away the moment he didn't like something or rather assumed the worst.
"Wow, Mr. Loque, you move rather fast, don't you?" despite how sweet Hala looked, every word was cold and directed to stab the man in the chest, "I'd almost say you could go through women as quickly as a baby goes through clothes."
With a slight huff she turned to Yeligar and simply answered, "I have a dress. I bought it awhile ago when I first heard about the ball."
'When she first heard about the ball' meaning 'when Vincent sent me that letter'. Ouch.

Vincent kept himself stone-faced as Hala bit back at him. In one way, he was proud of himself; her comments only meant that obviously, she was pissed at him. On the other hand, he...well, he really hadn't originally wanted her to be mad at him.
"Evangelia...that sounds quite nice, has a nice ring to it--Vincent and Evangelia. Nothing could be better," he grinned and didn't even look Hala's direction.

*At the ball* Yeligar was waiting at Hala's house, a few hours earlier, with a horse drawn carriage. He looked at his hands and looked at the flowers he got for her. He had no idea what to get a woman beside flowers, so he got the best flowers he could find. He stood there, and hoped that she didn't stood him up, but it was something that he had suspected or out of the questions for him.

Inside the small house by the lake, a brunette-haired woman peered out of the window as Yeligar showed up. She chuckled slightly and turned towards Hala, whom of which had been surprisingly sharp-tongued all of the late afternoon. "Looks like your knight is here," she spoke lightly, closing the curtains on the window, "this is that one you were telling me about? The one sending you letters and the odd pouch of dragon scales?" Hala sighed as she adjusted the long folds of her long, silver dress and stepped towards the door. "No, Mama. He's not," she answered, opening the door and heading out. She immediately stopped upon seeing Yeligar, staring awkwardly for a long moment at him. He dressed nice, there was a carriage, and he held flowers in his hands. Hala tried her best to smile but couldn't help but feel an overwhelming wave of guilt wash over her. "This is...you should be with Eva," she said to him. Seriously, why was she even going to this thing now anyway? The only reason why she was going to attend it before up and left her, there was really no sense in her even going anymore. And call it crazy, but somehow Hala had felt like she'd read enough into Vincent Loque to get the affirmed idea that she'd go out to the ball tonight anyway and he'd be trying to show off with Eva...which really made her stomach turn. She really wanted to hit that man right now.
