Many times before had Jasmine travelled the mountains in the Twilight kingdom.
She never usually came near the prophet's cave, though. Today was an exception. Having visited her mother's grave beforehand, Jasmine's brain was buzzing with questions...particularly one.
'How did this note appear? And furthermore, who could have been able to write it with the exact penmanship as my mother, and even sign it as her when she's dead?'
Jasmine recalled the note. It appeared after her battle with Xisa in the Caribbean on Earth. She'd kept it secret, finding it stuffed in between a couple of pages in her spellbook.
'My dear daughter,
I can feel your fear. This distresses me, I taught you better than this or so I'd hoped. Fate has a funny way of working, but in the end it is you who determines it regardless of what others say. The gods know it and if you should work with them they can guide you and even support you but you have to prove yourself.
This is no time to be afraid, Jasmine. It's time for you to show everyone and everything what it is you can really do. As the times get worse you must continuously do the right thing and bring yourself to realize that not everything that you do is going to be the good thing to do, regardless of it being right.'
The note then went on to reveal a horrid fact about Hala Loque. She knew a small hand of black magic which she used. All the times foul men and women entered their home and left with threats towards the Loque women, Hala would at times place curses on them.
Jasmine always knew there had to be a reason why they'd swear they'd be back but never did hold up to their threats, but she never imagined that her mother had with subtlety killed these people which prevented them from appearing again. It wasn't the good thing to do, no, but if she hadn't, she or Jasmine (or both) could have died many years ago with or without Vincent around.
It was a side of her mother she never imagined, nor ever did see. And this was assuming this letter was legit, which was exactly what Jasmine was hoping to find out from the prophet, Profeta.
Jasmine stood before the cave, Profeta's home and sighed. She stepped forward and peered inside, not wanting to barge in rudely.
"M-miss Profeta? Are you around?" she called.

"Hello Jasmine. How are you on this fine day?" Profeta said as she walked out of a room with an umbrella. "I was about to go on a walk, you can join me if you like."

Jasmine approached Profeta, giving a small and polite bow before her.
"I am fine, ma'am. It is quite lovely outside, and if I am not a burden to you then I surely would accompany you on a walk," she answered, "I had been hoping to talk with you."

"I know, that is why I wanted to take a walk. I find it that it is easier to talk to someone when you are walking, that is my preference anyways." he said as she opened the umbrella outside. "So, you want to talk about the note you found when you were on Earth, in the Carribean, correct?"

Jasmine nodded as they headed out of the cave.
"Yes, ma'am. I'm concerned about it, it...it's signed from my mother. It is in her writing, it is her same signature, it's even worded in the only way I knew my mother would talk to me should she had been here in front of me," Jasmine shifted uncomfortably as she thought about it, "but it appeared...there was something that happened on Earth. I saw things that I normally don't see. I saw something...dead. Lots of things, it was like the whole world around me was just dead. And a figure was there, and she came closer--I think it was a she--the next thing I knew I had no control of my body."
Jasmine recalled the images of the dead field, the silhouetted woman, and finally the mighty blow to Xisa and the barrier he had created around them.
"I couldn't control what was going on. I watched my hand point itself outwards and there was an explosion. Shortly after that I was no longer the spectator, I was myself again. It all came from me but it wasn't me. It was scary. And this note appeared in my book...is it legit? How did it happen?"
She couldn't quite control herself once she started talking about it--she had so many questions that desperately sought answers.

"You come from a powerful line of mages, Jasmine. You and the women in your family has something special." She said, as she hopped over a puddle. "You have the ability of channeling"

Jasmine stopped walking for a moment and gave Profeta a confused stare.
"Channelling? I...I don't think I understand..."
Jasmine tried to remember, she thought she'd read something on the different types of magic before. It took her another moment as she searched through her mind, and soon the term 'spirit channelling' came to her.
"I suppose...mediums can channel spirits, or so I've read once briefly on it," Jasmine said but then shook her head, "but I don't see how I could do something like that, ma'am. I was trained to be a healer. Mother told me to master my white magic and care for others--the only exception was my audience with the Twilight gods, as they offered me the ability to do more with my powers should I devote my prayers to them."

"Because you were trained for one thing does not mean you can not be skilled in another area." She said "As for the Twilight Gods. Do you think that they will go up to anybody? No, they now your family line, and they will help you. They are in debt to your family. But that is a story for Annabelle to tell. If a spirit does channel though you, they will have some old habits and traits. Handwriting, can never change, well not with such lovely hands."

"I suppose that makes sense," Jasmine answered slowly. At least, it made sense to her that a spirit channelled through her body would typically have the same traits as they did when they were alive.
But how did she do it? She had never actively searched out her mother or anything, it had just...happened.
"Who is Annabelle?" Jasmine suddenly asked, she was very unfamiliar with anyone by that name, "you say she knows my family? Or at least what this connection is to the gods?"

"Annabelle Fraus. I can not tell you how she knows you family but I can tell you where you can find her, she knows more on the information, and how to help train you." Profeta said as they walked over a bridge. "Your foremother saved the Twilight gods from being sealed away by a evil clan. She cast a curse over the clan and when they ran away, she started to nurse them back, but the clan returned to kill her and finish the job of sealing them off. The Twilight gods, wanting to repay her, used her body as a vessel. They had killed of most of the clan, but when the gods left the body, an clan member stab her in the chest. Feeling sorry, for doing this to the one that was so nice to her, they went out and find her family. They found her house but only person in there was girl about your age, and small boys and girls. The gods explain what had happened, and told the eldest daughter, to carve a symbol of their eye in her hand, and then they will ask her if she will be willing to accepted their powers, the good and the bad. Then she could use their power. They said they will never forgive themselves for the mother's death, so they said that they will help every female in that family."

Jasmine just shook her head. This apparently ran in the family? If so, how come she never knew of it? Why didn't her mother ever tell her?
"Are you saying I must find Annabelle Fraus? Where is she? You say you know where I can find her," she answered and stared up at Profeta. As if things weren't complicated enough, she just had to stumble upon some odd family secret, didn't she?

"She is looking for you, and we are on the road to her." Profeta said as they walked past a sign that said 'Shimmering lake.'

"She is looking for me? Hmmm..." The woman knew who Jasmine was and was out searching for her--apparently she was by the Shimmering Lake, too...
Jasmine cringed slightly as they passed by the Shimmering Lake. It had felt so long ago that Lilith had attacked them here, but it still hurt to remember seeing and holding her mother's cold and lifeless body.
"It's been so long since I'd been here, but it still kind of scares me," Jasmine tried to smile as she pointed down the road, "I love it here so much, and it hurt the first time to leave it, to leave Mother here all alone. That was the road I took to come back to visit, except at that time I had Andy slumped over my shoulders, both of us covered in his blood..."
She sighed. "I miss those days already. Andy was up early and training with Mr. Uruhane, Mother and I would go about our usual business tending to patients and studying, and Kara and I would wander off later to go searching for the cute animals in the area."

"Ah, Kevin... He is a good trainer, and a great husband." She said. "So how is your relationship with Andy, and your relationship with Kara?"

Jasmine wasn't able to hide the beaming smile on her face when asked about her friends, despite the uncomfortable, recent memories of the lake.
"I've never really had a lot of friends, or at least ones that I've been so close to before to be honest. It's nice to be with Kara, I feel like I can tell her anything. And Andy is...he...well, it's been good. I trust him, he trusts me, and I hope that somehow I can do more to help him in our battles against the Sumata."
