"Hmph." Elysia left to her meeting without a response.
Almost an hour later Elysia finally entered the carriage house on the castle grounds, where the horses were just being hitched. The servant paused to bow to her, "We will be ready to depart in 3 minutes, Your Highness."
"Very well. Has Ayalan arrived yet?"

Ayalan opened his eyes, she would see him in the shadow of the carriage, as he stepped out into the light- his hair was better kept and his armor as light as possible between a vest and normal pants with leather greaves.
He sighed a bit, yawning to himself.
"I don't think he's here yet."

Elysia raised an eyebrow, "Then obviously he needs to learn the importance of punctuality." She had not changed her outfit, simply retrieved her sword before going to the carriage house from her meeting. "Are you prepared to leave?"

Ayalan looked at her with a laugh, and he folded his arms, making a slight, "Hmph"..noise.
He had a strapped broken sword, and a chakram, as he opened the carriage door.
"I suppose I'll meet you there?" He looked at her with a smirk, not wanting to assume they'd travel together.
"I mean, if I'm too unpunctual for the event, I suppose I'll just show up at the event thirty minutes faster than the carriage could go," he leaned against the open door now.

Elysia entered the carriage and sat, gesturing for him to enter as well. "Of course not. It would be rude to force a man recovering from wounds to walk when there is room in the carriage. Besides, I prefer to travel with a light guard, and after all, you did offer your services, 'within reason'. "

Aya looked up at her enter the carriage, as he blinked, and smirked.
"Well I appreciate the offer..." He stepped in and sat across from her, his legs crossed again.
..and the door closed, before he spoke again.
"Of course, Elysia, you asking someone wounded to help guard you is quite funny. But I'll be delighted to take a sword for you," he said it with a bit of sarcasm, a bit of seriousness. Could have gone either way.

"I am capable of protecting myself. But one must keep up appearances, and a guard, wounded or not, is likely to discourage any unhappy with my rule to attack."
The was a slight pause before the carriage driver took the reins and the journey began.

Ayalan smirked and nodded, as he picked up the broken sword, feeling the unbelievably sharp edge all the way through, revealing the glass edge.
"I suppose you're right. Appearances always matter, I just use them the opposite way. The more inviting someone seems to be attacked, the faster you can root them out. Of course, I can't allow you to be attacked so. I've got your back."
He looked out the window, closing his eyes.
"Do you enjoy your life? As a Queen of a nation? Always busy?"

"It is not my place to enjoy it or not enjoy it. Someone must step up and rule, and I have done that. My responsibility is to this country and its people, not my enjoyment."

Ayalan nodded for a moment, looking aside, as he folded his sword over his arm, and closed his eyes.
"..I'm sorry to hear that."
.."I mean. Not of your noble goal- and your desire to help your people. I mean..that you can't freely say you enjoy yourself."..He looked aside again.
"..Have you wanted to enjoy everything?" Aya put his sword behind his back, leaning on his knees, watching her.

"What do you mean? Have I wanted to enjoy everything? Who hasn't? But it is not my place to seek enjoyment. I have duties to attend to, first and foremost."

Ayalan looked at Elysia as he nodded..
"..So let's have some fun. You can find something to do when your day is all done. I understand work comes first, and that enjoyment comes second...but you seem so tightly wound around a schedule."
Aya leaned back, sheathing his faux sword.
"If you want to. I'm not sure what Tuono has overall, but I figure you should just take a step back..breathe in. See what you've help create," he closed his eyes, as he put his hands on his shoulders.

"My schedule does not allow for free time. I have too many responsibilities to attend to. The schedule is the only way I can manage all of it, and so I must be 'tightly wound' around it, as you put it. I cannot neglect my duties."

Ayalan nodded as he spoke up, "Well..don't you have any time for yourself? I mean..not even a bit of time for us to go see somewhere in Tuono here or there?" He folded his arms.
"Well..I won't question your schedule. It is how you do things. It's seemingly working. I'm just too used to a free lifestyle. And you've accepted a lot of responsibility. One you feel you cannot share, I assume."

"Of course I have time for myself. Twice every day, during my meals."
