(Open to characters who participated in the Festival threads. If anyone else would like to join in please PM first.)
Beneath the blackened skies of Ariadelvento was a day that creeped with clouds so black and thick and close that you'd think you could snatch a piece of them just by reaching out your hand. When the lightning struck against the mountains surrounding Brezza Temple it was not the rare bolt that seemed to climb down from the heavens for a quick taste of the Earth. Atop the highest of peaks in the area the area trembled with thunder as the lightning struck with such frequency it looked like light itself was dancing upon them. Weather-wise, it was no different than any other storm that happened. But ordinary weather can pave the way for extraordinary events.
The attack during the festival in Crepusculum had been only a week ago, but it had been all too fresh in the mind of Queen Milicia even now. The rogues bearing Ariadelvento's crest had died without any information given, and the inhuman way they acted and fought had lead her to believe the Other was up to something. A simple envoy would be in great danger, and her captains were too busy helping fortify the city in case of future attacks.
Between the urgent needs she had of her forces and the danger of the mission, she had requested friends of the Watchers and those that had aided her people in the battle to make the journey to face the Other and find out why he had done what he had.
And so amidst the cold cloudy day, a few warriors had come at her request to infiltrate the Other's temple and discover what he was up to. There were only a couple guards patrolling the area leading up to the temple entrance, neither of them human.
They plodded along slowly in their familiar paces; large lumbering giants with jagged black shells and scales. The warriors were in luck today, for the many tendrils that came from their mouths, made to sniff the air around them, were dulled by the rain. They had only their thin red eyes to pierce the poorly lit outside and see past the many pillars and broken statues that sat between the warriors and the temple.

And Vincent was SO there, feeling only too happy to get out of Ignis for awhile to do a little work; this was a mission he had been ecstatic to join in on. He moved quickly but silently, taking cover behind a large rock only yards away from the guards.
"Let's take these bastards down," he spoke quietly with a grin, turning his head to his partner(s), "...anyone have any immediate ideas on how we break 'em? I'd like to vote for a quiet way as I really don't want to have to deal with more than we need to."
Because he had been getting awfully tired of the "lol let's just take them out with no plan and alert more guards and fight our way out!" dance. It'd be nice to have a strategy for once.
((I have no clue who's joining him if anyone even is XD;;; I left it VERY open))

Aya put his hand up, knowing the extremely long journey it took to get here as he sighed.
"Personally, I see right now, we would stand little chance: We don't know how they communicate or how many of them there REALLY are." He bowed his head respectfully to Vincent though, "Should it come to fighting, I'm all for your idea, but see right there-" He pointed to a few rocks along the right side. "- that we have an opening." He pointed toward some of the crumbled structures, and pointed them out along the way.
"However. That would also mean that only a few of us could go at a time, and the guards won't be that dull forever." He looked across to Vincent, and then to the others. "Plus..I mean..I don't really know I could take them down with my dagger. They're kinda...uhm...big."
"I suppose if we had a distraction of some sort, more of us could go at a time." He picked up a rock and tossed it lightly in his hand: He wasn't gonna do it, but he always had to find a way to make a situation laughable.

"I don't see why are so afraid of them. They look like they are weak." Volk said as he lean against the wall. Volkmar was only here at the request of Aya, him telling Volk that there would be lots of people to fight, and a chance to train is not something he would miss. "But if ya want to sneak around, we need a distraction, so all of us can get in, with one sweep."

"Then you're not looking with your eyes, but you ego," I quip at Volkmar, and give a silent chuckle. "Those things are guarding this place for a reason, so I think we should assume the worst of them, and stick to subtlety instead of brash overconfidence."
Surreptitiously peeking out from the large rock we hid behind, I gaze through the heavy rain, trying to take note of the number of guards, their positions, and their patrol routes, so at to try and ascertain the best time to move.
"So, we've got several problems right now, and the biggest one is the watch...things up in the higher towers. On top of that, distractions are gonna be hard to muster, as we don't know how they perceive things such as sounds, sight, smell and the like. On top of that, distractions will notify them that were here, unless we manage to make it seem so completely natural, which is a bitch to do."
I put my hand on my chin and pontificate at our predicament, considering our options. "I think this guy has the best idea for a pathway," I say pointing to Aya." I think though that we have to just take advantage of the weather, and use the rain and shadows to mask our presence as we move in small groups. Make sense to everyone else?"

Vincent rolled his eyes at Volkmar, pointing at Ingway as he answered, "I agree with this guy. Whoever you are," he pointed at Volkmar, "your way is going to get you killed. And I'd appreciate you do it away from me."
He gave a shrug looking towards Aya and Ingway as he added, "As for our 'friends' here, given what we do and don't know about them I'd say anything we do could result in mayhem, especially if they seem to have some kind of supernaturally heightened hearing or sight. I say we do use the path to sneak in, slow and subtle-like, and we leave the grey-haired guy here for an emergency distraction in the event of us being found out."
He was half-joking with that last remark. Half.

First off, he looked around at the attacks on Volk- "Trust me, he's not someone you want to get mad. He probably COULD kill them all by himself- but if we want this to be stealthy, and more so, to be safer, we better try stealth for now. However, if it comes down to it, he'll outrank us, kill wise."
Aya smirked at Ingway's perceptive ways, as he motioned to him, "And you, guy-" he laughed very very lightly, as he motioned to himself now.
"Aya." Just to establish some sort of name system- he didn't want to go in and keep referring to each other by some incommunicable code names.
"And alright." He looked up at the sky, noting the thunder and lightning pattern.
...1...2....3...4....5...6...CRACKKKK!
..."Give it....every twelve seconds total, we can go. Pairs?" 8...7...6..

If it was one thing Vincent hated, it was when people assumed what kind of a fighter he was. The man lead fleets and troops for years and had quite the hefty resume, so without basis whatsoever it did piss him off when someone out of the blue decided to tell him 'lol this other guy can totally out-kill you.' He'd never seen Volkmar fight before granted, but neither Aya or Volkmar have seen him fight before and for the record, they'd probably be quite amazed if they did.
Despite Aya annoying the crap out of him, Vincent decided to be the smart one and keep quiet, paying attention to the weather like everyone else. He looked over to Ingway, giving a half shrug as he said, "Pairs?"

"Ingway," I respond to Aya's brisk intro, thinking it only fair to give him that much about myself.
I pause for a second, glancing back and forth to those around me, trying to gain some kind of proverbial foothold as to who I'm working with. Scratching my head for a second, I turn to the tanned-skinned fellow as he seemingly directs his attention to me and inquires about Aya's suggested approach.
"Yeah, I think two-man teams would be a sound plan. Judging from my commonly trustworthy perceptive abilities, and correct me if I wrong here, but Aya here seems pretty perceptive himself, while you and our friend with the ego there," I joke as I motion my head to Volkmar, "seem like the types who're skilled in combat. So, I'd suggest, in part cause Aya seems to know that other guy, and that we want an even distribution of skills, that you and I team up, while Aya and the silver-haired guy go together. Sound like a plan?" I question, turning my head around to look at everyone, waiting for a response.

"Aye, but we should get going. If those guards are as amazing at that guy says, then we shouldn't stay in one spot for too long." He said as looked around, re-adjusting his swords.

Aya smiled at Ingway's comment, nodding to him, "Thank you for your compliment."
He then watched the lightning go, and nodded to Volk, "Let's get going...3....2...1-..now."
Aya's dash was more of a teleport as he appeared on the otherside, Volk would still be across the way- but if he had the magic, why not flaunt it?

Volkmar bolted as Aya said now, running as fast as he could, and caught up to Aya. "You know, if you could teleport, you could have taken us one at a time." He told him as he re-hid himself, waiting for the other two.

"And ruin the fun or get you by the easy way? That'd be a shame if you lost on some training by doing it all the easy way," Aya grinned, Volk had a point.
However, for that point, Aya figured that everyone here was proud enough of their own skills- he didn't want to demean anyone...not purposefully anyway.

"oh-ho? So Aya's got some tricks has he? Well two can play at this game," I say playfully as I give Vincent a slight nudge with my elbow. Concentrating for a short bit, a subtle green glow begins to emanate from under my cloak before a billowing cloud of fog quickly pour out. The cloud flows out in massive amounts, slowing pushing outwards and towards the castle, aiming to encircle the entire area in a dense mist, providing us with an aid in our sneaking endeavours.
"Alright, my tanned, sword-slinging friend, shall we depart," I question with an outstretched arm towards the crumbled structure where Aya and Volkmar had maneuvered to.

Vincent chuckled at Ingway, nodding as he said, "I like you already. Let's get this done."
Vincent didn't have any fancy smoke tricks or stupid gliding or anything like that (he could just kick your ass and that's all that was important) but he was still stealthy enough to move through the misty area with little to no problem. So far they had one obstacle just about down, now it was...uh...the second of how many? Vincent was already trying to figure out a way to get into the damn fortress itself next as they moved along.
