I breathed in deeply, taking in the air here in Roccia. I hadn't traveled this land much recently, but I decided that I might want to in the future. It had a good clean smell, the smell of the earth and all that lay below it.
"So, RIn," I said to her, grinning, "Whatcha think of Roccia, now that we're here? Let's go look for your friend, hm?"
I was glad to get off the boat. I don't usually have a problem with enclosed spaces, but there hadn't been much to do there. I did spend some time speaking with Rasen, and some time reading a few books and writing in my journal, but... well. There's only so much time you can spend doing each of those things.

One heavy yawn begins my response. "I don't like boats, Blondie. Don't make me do that again..." I had to force myself asleep for the ride. I felt sick once the waves hit. I was so uncomfortable, and the motion made me feel sick... so sick...
"But yes. See... I have no idea where to start looking for Dai. So you've got a job to do, Blondie. Buy me an easel and as much paint as you can. We're going to the Colosseum. I've heard it's a good, bloody mess. And I want to paint it."

I shrugged. "Well, if you really want to. It's not my favorite sight..."
But it glorified violence and killing. It was a war without a cause. So much senseless death...
"But, if you want to go, we can." I'd need to be careful - the arena wasn't the safest place for me simply because of how much death happened there.

"...I don't know if you know how I work, Blondie. In fact, I guarantee you don't. I don't want to paint it. I don't need to paint it. But it's there. So I paint it, get what I mean?" I nod once, confirming my thoughts. A small yawn ends my statement.
"Now come on. Dead people don't paint themselves."

I sighed. "Alright, alright. COme on, I think I see an art shop that direction." I pointed deeper into the city, starting off the way I'd pointed.

"Convenient. Art stores are always weird. They smell like dust.." I take a moment to look around. "Actually... come to think of it... This place isn't metal. And the skies... They're not gray." I take a deep breath, feeling dirt beneath me. It was more shifty... And fun to wiggle my toes in. "I kind of like it..."

I smiled down at her. "Welcome to Roccia," I said, "Kingdom of the Earth and Stone. And welcome to the joys of traveling... I've been on the road for longer than you could imagine, RIn, and I never get tired of it."

"You underestimate my imagination, Blondie." I smirk at my own comment. "I could imagine you've been wandering since the dawn of the planet. Heheh. Still think you can say that?" Note-To-Self: Try and remember to paint that. "Anyway... Paint stuff now. Let's get going, before everyone dies."

"Not that long," I admitted. "Not even since the dawn of recorded history. Just about four millenia..."
For some reason, I could talk to this girl; I wasn't even comfortable talking to Kurai about my long life. But it was easy to talk to Rin; maybe because she didn't seem to think it was anything all that special. She judged things on her own personal scale.
Of course, it could be because she reminded me of Sayara; I rather thought it was a combination of the two.

"Just four, eh? The way you talk, I'd think it was five." I grin at that, and we approach the store he had mentioned. True to his eye, it was an art store. "Good. I need a canvas, maybe two... And all the paint you can get would be appreciated."

I nodded. "Sure. What colors? Red, obviously..."
I went through, looking at various different colors. Some people almost made a big deal about Rin not wearing shoes, but one look at her lack of arms and they didn't; I paid no attention to them, instead looking for interesting shades of paint.

"I told you already, get everything you can. All the colors... That'll save us some mixing time, you know? So get everything. I brought my bag, so you can put them in there." I pull my stubs out from the bag and let it fall to the ground. "Go on, Blondie. I'll be outside."

I nodded, watching her go, then sighed. I bought one of every color they had, then an easel and canvas, purchased them, and left the store.
I smiled at Rin when I saw her. "You okay?" I asked.

"Huh?" I had been spacing at the dirt. There really wasn't any in Chalybs. At all, in fact. I had been shuffling around, feeling it on my feet. "Okay? Isn't that a relative term? To a lot of people, I could be very okay, and to others, just a little girl who's had one too many bad dreams, Blondie. Pick your words." I am a master at subject-dodging.. even when it's not intended.

"Did the people in the shop bother you?" I asked, choosing words carefully; she seemed to be as much of a master of the evasive question as I was.
