"...I don't remember any people in there. Did they bother you?" I question without expectation of an answer. "Well, let's go. I think the colosseum is supposed to be big. And there's a big circle-rock-thing over there. Let's go." And I walk on ahead. Painting, then Daisuke.

I followe her in, hesitating just long enough to steel myself against the slaughter the two of us were about to witness...

My eyes fly open as I hear a loud crash at my door. "Sorry I'm late again Mr. Ace!" my assistant Alto calls as he stumbles into my room. "It's ok Alto." How many times have I said that now this week? Eh, doesn't matter I guess. Crawling out of bed, I approach the food preparation area of my room. "Want some breakfast Alto? I think I might have something around here that I can give you..." I say as I begin to look around the area. "Thanks Mr. Ace! I'm starving." After a quick meal of eggs and some puny sausages, I quickly change for today's fights. "So what's on the menu for today my young ward?" I ask as I strap my pauldron onto my right shoulder. "No wait, let me guess. Some super strong warlord with the strength of ten men? An ancient wizard proficient in the most dangerous of arcane arts? Oh, or maybe some legendary assasin known far and wide as the killer of gods?" I ask before he can get a word in. "All three actually sir..." Alto responds, with an annoying amount of truth in his eyes. "That's cute..." I mumble as I finish dressing and grab my sword. "Alright Alto, I'll be back later. Get some wash done while I'm gone, those bloodstains are getting on my nerves." I call to my young assistant as I walk out the door and head down the halls to the main arena.

The roar... The roaring of the fans. It's terrible. It's loud. It's distracting. "I hate it here." I comment, but make sure that I have him move us near the middle. I wanted to paint the audience as well without being too far away. After the easel, canvas, and paints were set up, I sigh and sit on a seat. "And now we wait for the carnage."

"Ladies and gentlemen!" I could hear the announcer begin to call from my position behind one of the inner arena doors. "I'm honored to present to you now he first of many fights today starring one of our arena aces known far and wide as the Sauntering Sword!" The crowd went wild at the mere mention of my stage name; some cheering madly, others booing profusely. Man I hate that name... I thought as the announcer rambled on about some of my feats. "Without further hold up, I give you the one, the only... Sauntering Sword!" Show time. I thought as the doors in front of me opened wide, allowing me into the coliseum. Big audience today... I thought as I scanned the crowd. Is that an easel? Don't see that everyday... "And now, I present to you our first challenger; a self-proclaimed warlord from a land far away! His strength equals that of ten men! He has a mastery over many dangerous and ancient arcane arts! The one and only legendary assassin known as God Killer!" Oh. So that's what Alto meant... I thought, letting my jaw drop slightly. It can't be that bad. In fact, I think i'm more shaken up by the fact that Alto was right for once, rather than the actual opponent... I though as I steeled myself for what was to come.

"Eehhh?" I question, looking out onto the scene. "That... Sawblening Sword Guy looks familiar..." I mutter. Too familiar... "Hey, Blondie... Watch my easel. I need to go to the lady's room." I command, rising and beginning to walk down the stairs, to get a closer look.

I watch with as neutral an expression I can muster as the opposing doors open to reveal... A kid. No older than thirteen, the boy was covered head to toe in heavy duty armor, and had all sorts of weapons tied down to his back. The worst part was that he looked scared out of his mind. "U-Um, i'm..." The boy started, trailing off in fear. "I'm going to beat you!" He yelled, before charging towards me with a wood-handled lance in his hands. "You're joking, right?" I said as I sidestepped the boy's charge and cut his lance in half. I gave an audible sigh as I severed all of the ropes holding his armory to his back in a flash. The boy, feeling the sudden change in weight, gave out a scream and tried to back away; only to fall his bottom. With tears in his eyes, the boy looked up to me and asked "A-Are you gonna kill me?" Ugh. I can't do this. He's just a boy, probably forced into this situation just like I was... I remembered being dragged here as a child and forced to take up a sword by my parents. I remembered the pain I suffered during all of my training, and the feeling of hopelessness that constantly plagued my mind. Sheathing my sword, I walked over to the boy casually and knealt down before him. "I'm not gonna kill you kid. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I did. Why are you doing this, anyways?" I asked him, wondering what his situation was like. "My family needs money. I thought that by fighting an Arena Ace that I would be able to make enough to take care of them..." The boy trailed off, tears steaming down his face. "I guess... I won't be able to help the-" "Stop right there." I interrupted him, reaching behind me for my money. "It looks like I forgot to put away quite the bit of money from yesterday's fights." I said, holding my hand out for him to see. "Take it all, and leave with your life." The boy stared at me in awe before nodding and accepting my offer, running for the arena's exit. Disregarding the boos coming from seemingly everywhere, I looked back to ensure that the boy was out of the arena safely, and began heading back towards my waiting room.

"...He's the only one that would give a day's wages away and leave the kid alive." I confirmed it. It.. It even looked like him. And even though I hated it, I began running. Down all the stairs to get to the bottom. It was him... It was really him! "D... Daisuke!" I call. Of all the times not to have arms to wave... "Daisuke!" I cry, running through, looking for the barracks. And... then I saw it. The same clothing the merciful warrior wore... And that hair. I would never forget that hair.
"DAISUKE!" I call, tackling him to the ground in my version of a hug.

My mind was struck with an army of thoughts as the armless girl struck my body. The word 'easel' seemed to echo through my head as the two of us fell to the floor together. It took a few more seconds of 'easel' for me to realize that the girl on top of me was none other than Rin Tezuka. I couldn't stop the tears of joy from assaulting my face as I wrapped my arms around the girl. "Rin?! Is that REALLY you? I mean, it has to be you, seeing as you yelled my name and jumped on top of me, but I can't believe it's you after so long..." I continued babbling in disbelief, unable to staunch the constant flow of words. This is amazing. This is astounding. This is... Amazing! I thought, still babbling at Rin.

"Daisuke... Just shut up." I laugh lightly as I rest my head on him. I should have known. His parents would have put him up to this. This is the only reason that he'd be doing arena battles like this. I almost felt bad for wanting to paint it. Almost. It still had to be done. I nuzzle my cheek into his chest. He'd gotten so much... more masculine. He didn't look like that little boy anymore... "You're alright..."

"Depends on what you mean by 'alright'. But in general, yeah. I'm alright." Damn she's grown... But there's no denying that shes the same exact person I met all those years ago. The same. Exact. Person. I laughed at my own thoughts, letting the greatness of the situation take control of me. Straining my body to get a better view of her, I decided that it would be best to let her speak. I've babbled enough already, and tender moments like these shouldn't be ruined with babbling. I think...

"...Okay. I think I'm done with that." I reply in my lazy tone. I stand up and sigh. "I'd offer you a hand, but..." Yeah, make arm jokes. That's how you should talk to your love after eight years... "Well, erm... Dust me off, Daisuke. You got me dusty."

I laughed aloud at her claims. "I got YOU dusty? You tackled me to the ground..." I said with a huge smile on my face as I got up and began to wipe the dust off of her. "So how did you even get here anyways?" I ask, whilst keeping up with the dusting. "Did you raise the money yourself? Or are you... with someone?" I asked, almost dreading the answer to the last part. Oh jeez oh man oh crap what if she's here with a boyfriend or something? Maybe they're here as some sort of weird, violent date! I try to keep calm as I finish dusting her off. Nah, she can't be here with someone else. After all, she just jumped on me. That has to stand for something, right?

"Yeah, I'm actually here with the Spirit of Death. He's tall and blonde. And I made him cry..." I chuckle. This was definitely toying with him. "And I'm the best blacksmith who ever lived. Better believe it, Dai."

"Wait, seriously?!" I begin to get excited when I remembered a certain troubling event of my childhood... "Oh yeah, sure. And I bet some machine turned you into a deadly giant too, right?" I said with a smirk. "Sorry Rin, but I'm not as easy to toy with as I once was." I said, poking her side playfully. But I am still afraid of heights...
