well, this area needs a post, and I need to know what movie I should watch tonight. I see a movie every monday.
I will post again saying how I liked the movie afterwards.
here are my options
Frost/Nixon
Gran Torino (I already saw this so no, but it was terrific)
Hes just not that into you, no, I am a man and not with his girlfriend.
Milk
New in Town
Slumdog Millionair
Taken
The International
The Uninvited
well, its probably going to be either taken or slumdog millionair. so go ahead and suggest one of those. I just like writing out all the options

I heard that the Slumdog is good.

I saw The International last night. It was a pretty kickass action movie.
...Though unintentionally funny at times. Then again, that may just have been me and my weird sense of humor.

well, I saw Slumdog Millionair and I thought it was a really good movie. Very entertaining the whole was through, but right after the final scene of the movie they had this really stupid dance scene during the credits. it ruined the feel of the ending.
altogether a great movie. I will most likely see Taken next week and I could give a short review then as well if you would like.

I am just afraid to say anything about the movie cause I hate spoilers.... So I leave a lot out. my reviews might be lacking in an sort of real insight.
I want to see Frost/Nixon as well. I really enjoy historical movies and books.

I don't mind historical movies and books, but I do get rather annoyed with the never-ending AMERICANPATRIOTISM!!!!movies >8(
I am also quite sick and tired of seeing the 9/11 movies spring up all over the place, as well as movies that, even as a joke, hint at muslim people as terrorists or people to be feared in some way or another.
Yeah, I get the feeling I'm walking on eggshells talking like this when I'm surrounded by folks here who are from the U S OF A, but MAN, I'm being honest D:

I am not a fan of the 9/11 movies. I lived with a Muslim from Yemen for a year, and he is seriously one of my favorite people of all time. But I did joke at him about being a terrorist.
on a side note. Blind patriotism can bring about the worst kind of consequences.

I don't mind patriotism movies so long as they're not excessive/blind/obsessive. But... what do you mean by 'patriotism movies'?

Elexa: I mean ones where they over-glorify America and make it sound disgustingly like they are the greatest country in the bloody world, where everyone is caring, reasonable, and that they've been apparently victimized by the rest of the world and have to like, stand up to fight everyone and 'show the world what they're made of'.
Or ones where OH MY GOD ONE MAN HAS TO STAND UP FOR THE GOOD OF THE COUNTRY, THE GREAT AMERICA!1
*avoids having tomatoes thrown at her* >.o It just sickens me. I'm not tooting Canada's horn, though, It would disgust me JUST as much if people made movies like that about my country.
><;;; Because you guys know just as well as I do that America is NOT that awesome. At the same time? CANADA isn't that awesome. I hate us being constantly portrayed as "THE Melting Pot of the World" and as "the most accepting of different cultures".
Because sadly? WE'RE NOT. My god, the racism here? TERRIBLE! I mean, you don't find it AS BAD here as you would somewhere else, but we're not saints, people!! And I wish the world would quit trying to tell everyone that we are...
My neighbours say things like "Black people are good at running because that's all they've done all their lives, is run away from their problems". My own mother calls my best Muslim friend a "packie" and assumes she's from Iraq (LIBYA, YOU MORON. NORTHERN AFRICA), and all my coworkers are "chinks" to her =/
So...YEAH. Patriotism movies in general SUCK.
Volk: D: what was I Love You, Man about, anyway? I thought that was one of the ones I wanted to see but I can't remember...

The movie is about a man trying to find his Best man for his wedding and he goes on some Man dates. It looks good.
And as for the Patriotic movie, can we NOT talk about those? I mean I do want a person that loves those movies and starts yelling at everyone else about that, and then sides are made and huge debates go off and then both sides refuses to get on here. I do not care that you express your opinion, just try not to start a fight.

D: Volk, luv, you know I wouldn't start a fight over something so inane.
If anything, I was afraid to express my opinion here anyway. >< It's because I'm a Canadian in the midst of how many more Americans.
I don't care if anyone really likes those movies, I just say I dislike them =p If asked why, I speak why.

I don't really care if you're canadian, I agree with everything you've stated, along with lana. The U.S. certainly isn't the best country, nor is it the worst. What with the economic problems lately, it CERTAINLY isn't the best, and I've found that many countries get tagged with things that aren't necessarily true.

I agree and disagree, yes the economic problem doesn't make this place seem so great, but the world is going under this. And this I quote.
"Although we are having problems United States is still one country everyone wants to go to at least once, because we still allow stuff people in other countries are not aloud to do."
Now is Canada any different, I don't know, I've always been interested in it. And no, you will not start a movie fight just because you're from another country.
