((Vincent and Jasmine, but it remains open for anyone to jump in at anytime--you do not need to consult me on it, even =p I'll just roll with whatever))
Why was she back here? She had no reason to be. She was sure Andy would have told her there was no point, he wouldn't have changed in the...however long they were gone from Crepusculum.
Still, curiosity brought Jasmine back to Ignis. The last time she'd been here, she reported to Vincent that Hala was dead, and he'd reacted badly the moment Andy entered the picture. Jasmine left her father here and left with Andy, shortly disappearing to Earth for some time to track down and stop the Sumata in their search for relics.
She and her grandmother were only in Ketulunanox not too far away...it couldn't have hurt for her to check in, right? Would he even be here? He never stayed in one place for too long, afterall.
Jasmine walked along the forest, staring in awe at all of the trees continuously burning. It was lovely... She'd wasted enough time wandering. It was time to get back to her grandmother, otherwise there surely would be hell to pay.

Wandering through the forest not too far away was, speak of the devil, Vincent himself. He had only been just entering Ignis himself after his travel through Crepusculum and around again.
Such a surprise it was when he looked on ahead and recognized the blonde girl garbed in purple clothing. He saw her just turning around when he picked up his pace and quickly approached her.
"Jasmine," he called out to her, "Jasmine, wait!"
He, too, remembered his last meeting with her. He'd been so angry, letting his emotions he felt for his wife's death take control and let loose on her friend, Andy. Well, that seemed to be part of it, anyway.

Jasmine wheeled her head in the direction the voice came from.
"Papa?" she took a couple of steps forward, "I...we came back from Earth. I was only in the area, doing some training. I won't be here long, though."
She didn't want to give him the idea that she was changing her mind and coming back to him, that is.

"It's good to see you are safe," Vincent sighed and without hesitation, reached his arms tightly around his daughter in a hug, "...you had me worried. So worried when you left like that...Jasmine..."
He took a deep breath as he softly patted Jasmine on the head, running his fingers through her hair.
"I'm sorry. I don't know what else to say besides I'm sorry for what I did earlier, for what I said," Vincent pulled back only a moment to look Jasmine straight in the eyes and frown as though his stomach were going to be sick, "please don't go like that again. I'm only but a stupid man, but I can't tell you how much loneliness will kill a man like me."

Jasmine allowed Vincent's hug, and as he wrapped his arms around her she let hers slide up to embrace him, too.
"Papa, you're acting silly," she shook her head, "you're acting like I was never going to see you again."

Vincent released Jasmine from the hug but held her hands in his as he suddenly grumbled, "If you let Jammer have his way, I probably wouldn't ever see you again. That's what made me worry."
There it was again, the anger rising. He couldn't help it, this was his family, the ones he worked so hard for to love and protect and it seemed so unfair that one person who didn't even know them was out to break them up like this.
"Having your mother taken away from me is already hard enough; I can't deal with you going on me, too," Vincent bit his lip and he squeezed Jasmine's hands slightly.

Jasmine's face fell and she sighed frustratedly at Vincent.
'Here we go again already...'
"He's been looking out for me like the good friend he is, Papa, not trying to tear our family apart or bar me from seeing you," she looked up at Vincent and raised an eyebrow, "now really, you need to just sit and have a nice chat with him. You'll see if you do that he's actually a very sweet man."
'Once you get past the cursing and yelling, anyway...'

Vincent shook his head wildly.
"I'm not sitting down and drinking tea with him, if that's what you're out for. Your mother and her weirdo friend Kevin did that all the time and I'm sorry, but men don't drink tea..."

"I'm not asking for you two to have a tea party, Mr. Uruhane isn't a weirdo, and plenty of 'big, and tough' men drink tea," Jasmine crossed her arms. Seriously, how did her mother actually deal with him sometimes?
"Papa, I'm serious. When have you two actually sat and got to know each other since you met him?"

"Okay, okay," Vincent waved his arms at her as it became even more obvious that the only one who actually liked to hear him make fun of Kevin was himself. You'd have thought that cracking the jokes in front of the guy himself and getting whapped with the cane would have been an incentive to stop, but as it turned out it took him only a moment to laugh at his own joke to for him to finally realize it...really wasn't funny. Interesting how that worked.
"That's not my point. The point is...I...well, I don't really know what else I was going to say here besides speaking of your mother," Vincent reached into his pocket to pull out a necklace with rather large, purple stones, "this...I had gone into the house while you were away. I found this, it had...belonged to your mother."

Jasmine stared at the necklace that Vincent held. It looked pretty, she'd give it that. But that was it.
"Papa, why would you go and take something like that? Mother can't take it with her, you know, and it's no use to you out here."

Vincent shook his head as he said, "No no, there's a good reason for why I made the journey all the way out there just to get this. She wanted you to have it."
Vincent's face seemed to twist in pain as he ran his fingers along the smooth and bulky stones of the necklace, like every memory was slowly killing him.
"I don't really know what made that woman fall in love with an idiot like me, honestly. She always told me I was kind of loud and my temper was short...and I guess that's all true if she said it was. But despite my stupid flaws, she looked past all of that; people would point at me and say something like, 'who's that obnoxious ape making an ass of himself over there?' and she'd just smile proudly at me and answer, 'that's my husband...'" Vincent squeezed the stones tightly in his hand, "...I remember the day we got married, yet. The white dress she wore, trailing behind her and her hair down. She wore this, then. It stood out so well, and she looked so beautiful..."
He looked back down at the necklace in his hand before looking at Jasmine. He gave no warning, he stuck his hands behind her neck, positioning the necklace in front and in only a brief moment did he clasp the two ends together so that it hung just right before where her outfit under her robe cut off on her chest.
"She had said to me, 'Vincent, I want Jasmine to be wearing this necklace when she gets married as well.' And as you know, I'm a sucker for doing just as your mother wants...it can't stay in the house, it'll be stolen. It can't stay on me because it'll get lost. But if I give it to you now, I know it'll be safe."

Jasmine had gasped just as Vincent reached out towards her neck. When he pulled away, she looked down at the slightly heavier hunk of jewellery, lightly touching it herself and feeling the smoothness of the round stones.
"Papa..." was the only thing Jasmine was able to squeak out, trying to keep herself from starting to cry. Crying wouldn't do any good for anyone at the moment, there was no point.
It was lovely. It really was. Oh god, she missed her mother so much, though.

Vincent smiled at his daughter as he took her hands in his again and said, "You look just as lovely as she did."
It was times like this that made him regret leaving his two favourite girls; he wished he'd spent more time with them. Also wished the war wasn't going on so they wouldn't have to be subjected to heartache and tears, and the battlefield itself.
"Jasmine," Vincent choked, "don't leave. My sister--your aunt--lives out here in Ignis. You'll be safe there with her."
Vincent was a simple man. His daughter was his only weakness. The fear of losing her, if something were to happen to her would chop him down to a weak, helpless individual. It was like tearing the wings off of a fly, in some odd sense.

"Papa," Jasmine answered him warningly, "I'm not staying anywhere with anybody."
She could understand he was worried and she wouldn't blame him. He was trying to help, trying to look out for her like any loving father would. But sadly, it didn't seem like he quite 'got it' yet...
"I know you worry but I can't sit by while people die. Mother told me to find one of the good-hearted warriors in the world to stick by them and help them so that we may have a peaceful world again," Jasmine smiled up reassuringly at Vincent, "I found Andy. I too have to carry out Mother's wishes and help him just as she directed me to. It's not just him, either, I have even more people to help, Papa, like Mr. Maelstrom."
