A soft wind blew over the grass by the Shimmering Lake as Lilith stepped closer to a small house that was conveniently settled by the water. She watched as people left, leaving the owner of the house - a blonde-haired woman in her mid-thirties - all alone for at least a bit.
She would only need a minute.
"Loque, was it? This is the right place?" she asked aloud as she casually stepped up the stairs to the house and opened the door without knocking first.

The door opened and Hala quickly looked over, a cloth in her hands that she was using to wipe her hands with only a moment ago as her last patients left. For a moment, she thought they had come back and forgotten something, but when she saw the regally dressed woman step in a cold chill shot down her spine.
She didn't have to speak to this woman to know she was trouble, she could already see it in her eyes. And if she was as nicely dressed as she was? She already guessed what group she belonged to and what company she held...
However, neutrality was the golden rule in her home, and so she approached the woman with a kind smile on her face.
"Hello, there," Hala greeted, "is there anything I could help you with?"

"Perhaps," Lilith's voice was quiet, cold, and she stepped up close to Hala and gave the woman a disgusted look-over.
"I hear things. I have sources all over the world that tell me all sorts of things...such as the name 'Loque.' That is you?" Lilith invited herself to take a small tour of the main room in the house, looking over the cozy little building. She gave the blonde woman a curious look, yet the glare of hers was still obviously there underneath it.

Hala never flinched nor reacted in any other way to show she felt threatened by the woman parading around in her house in the green dress.
"Your sources would be right, I suppose. Are you looking for Hala Loque?" Hala asked, her suspicion about the woman steadily rising. Just in case, she stepped casually toward the door for if there was a time for her to have to run her best chance would be the forest by the house.

"My sources are right whether you choose to lie about this or not. I'm looking for the family of a Vincent Loque," Lilith gave a knowing grin to the woman, "you're too old to be his daughter - you are his wife, correct?"
She held out her hand, checking over her long nails. She wouldn't use them on this woman, though, she knew the women in the family were both healers.
"I figure I'd come talk to you, he's done something I'm not too terribly happy with."

Hala sighed. "If you already know the answer to your question, miss, why would you be asking me?"
She shrugged and backed slowly up against the door. "I'm sorry to hear that Vincent's upset you, but what would he have possibly done to have you travel this way to see me about it?"
In actuality, Hala didn't want to know. There was a sickening feeling growing in her stomach and she already knew she did not want to hear whatever else this woman had to say. Rather, what she felt she had to do was think of a way out of this.

"I don't appreciate a man of his nature to trespass into my forest, openly disregard my request for him to leave, and then destroy my home and murder my family," Lilith glared and her voice was laced with a venom as she spoke, "my family and my country have always been quite strict, and always believed that the just retribution for one's crimes was to do unto them as they've done unto you; steal a loaf of bread, they steal one back from you; slaughter one of their animals and they slaughter one of yours..."
She stared hard at Hala for a long moment, her lip twisting into another disgusted frown.
"He killed my family, Mrs. Loque. I only have one of those - what do you propose I do about this?"

Yep, that was something Hala definitely did not want to hear. What he did, the whole retribution thing, and now piecing together that this was the queen from Alberisato which meant her escape into the forest was a definite no-go if she had any hope of surviving this.
"....I see," her voice had lost the sweet tone to it, she already knew what Lilith was getting at and there was no need to be sweet and kind when someone was out for your blood, really.
'Oh Vincent...' Hala thought to herself as she rested her back against the door with her arms behind her back. Her hand slowly slipped to grab the knob. The mountain was her next idea, she'd have to go up there.
"What do I think?" Hala calmly answered Lilith's final question, "I...think you should just relax a bit. Sit down, have some tea..."

Lilith was silent for a long moment and she kept her stare on Hala. After the long and eerie silence, Lilith smiled a rather cheerful smile, slightly tilting her head to the side as a black rose grew out of the sleeve of her dress. She pulled it out and held it in her hand, holding it up high enough for Hala to see.
"There is nothing to drink here, my dear, but your blood," her grip on the rose tightened, "...I wouldn't open that door if I were you."
On cue, the door behind the blonde woman exploded open and a jungle of vines burst in wrapping themselves tightly around her.

Hala's eyes widened noticeably as Lilith commented on the door, and as Hala went to whip her hand away from the doorknob the door burst open. She let out a scream while the vines slipped in and wrapped themselves around her and she looked at Lilith with wide and terrified eyes.
"I don't care if it's the way your country does law or not, your troubles with my husband have nothing to do with me or my daughter!" she yelled, "put me down, get out of my house - stay out of my house!"

"I'll put you down," Lilith smiled, folding her arms and the vines loosened their hold on Hala for a brief moment.
And before the woman could relax they tightened their hold on her, squeezing all the air out of the small woman and a few more vines wrapping themselves tightly around her throat.
Lilith danced a little on her feet as she threw down a trail of black roses which lead to the middle of the kitchen, where a large bed of them was placed. She looked back at the strangling woman and laughed.
"Perhaps I'll be lucky enough to run into your daughter before I leave; I'll make sure she suffers the same fate you do."

"You..ugk...won't...!"
Hala fought to hold on to whatever breath she had and fought even more to try to take in more. She couldn't breathe, and she couldn't move her arms either. Struggling even more seemed to make the situation worse but she tried so hard to grab ahold of the prayer charm she had hanging from her wrist, knowing that somehow her deities would do something to help.
Sadly, she could not break her hand free and so Hala Loque was left with only one thought remaining.
'Jasmine...please don't come home...'
Just as Lilith had intended, Hala's body fell limp and lifeless in the arms of her plants, looking like nothing more than a doll that was being tossed around. Yet? She had such a peaceful look on her face.

Lilith smiled at the body that hung there now, the room was now eerily quiet without the other woman's screaming. Though as her vines threw the body in the patch of black roses on the floor Lilith frowned.
"Hmm. Perhaps this was a little unnecessary," she quietly said to herself as she looked back at the woman laying peacefully on the floor and at the pictures and other 'homey' like decorations around the room, "the girl is somewhere around the same age as I was when my parents were killed..."
Usually one would have felt some remorse then, but as it turned out Lilith was just being a morbid witch. Her lips curled into an evil smile and with the snap of her fingers her plants followed her out the door and she laughed as she did so.
"He really should have thought of that, then. Such a stupid man."

Had Lilith taken the time to look, Jasmine herself really wasn't that far away from the Loque house. In fact, had Hala escaped the house and made it to the mountain Lilith would have found both of the women she was looking for.
Having just come down from the mountain (and luckily, having just missed Lilith), Jasmine headed right for home. It was an interesting thing to have approached the house with the door wide open, and even more so to see a black rose sitting on the porch.
An even more interesting thing to see even more roses than that spilled all over the floor and around the table. Jasmine had raised an eyebrow, giving a glance around outside before peeking her head in the house. It was odd, roses never typically grew in this area of Crepusculum.
"Mother? Did you spill something?" she called in, noting the mess. Upon hearing no reply and no movement she stepped inside to find out what was amiss.
She got two steps into the house when she gasped, seeing her mother laying on the floor in a pile of black roses.
"...Mother? Mother, are you okay!?" Jasmine knelt down beside the woman, shaking her at first and hoping she hadn't fallen unconscious. She noticed then the strange, red marks on her neck and she quickly examined them. Upon touching her skin, which was now cold, Jasmine's eyes widened and she grabbed for her mother's wrist. And upon finding no pulse, she leaped backwards, hitting her head against the wall.
There she sat for the longest time, her eyes scanning over Hala's body again and again and again, always checking to make sure that yes, that was her mother, no, she was not breathing, thus meaning she...she...
She breathed heavier, and she had to do something - anything, just not sit here. Yet for some reason she couldn't get herself up, it was like the shock had numbed her nerves.
At long last she finally did do something, and probably the only thing she could even think to do at that moment.
She screamed the loudest, ear-splitting, heart-wrenching scream she'd ever done.

A young girl's scream filled the air and usually that would have been enough to send chills down one's spine, but not Lilith's.
In fact, this was the one scream she wanted to hear. It meant her second target had been near, is still near...and couldn't escape, either. The wind blew the grass and trees wildly, the plants were excited to leap back into that house to snag the young Loque girl as well.
Lilith stepped slowly up the steps again, peering into the house where the short blonde-haired girl sat, horror-stricken at her dead mother.
"You seem upset about something," she quietly said to her, not sure if she was hoping to startle the girl or not.
