"Vincent..." Hala warned. The guy facing Vincent now straightened himself up and glared.
"I don't listen to you, pal. We're just passing through now if you don't mind, get the hell out of here," he threatened again, this time coming at Vincent with his blade raised.

Vincent grinned--this was exactly what he was waiting for. The man brought his blade up and Vincent brought his up to block, pushing with an immense force to try to bounce the man back a foot or so. He took another quick swing before he brought his own fist towards him, pummeling the other man in the face and sending him to the ground.
"Passing through, you bet. I--hey waitaminute," Vincent had taken a glance to Hala as he was showing off but frowned as he caught sight of a red mark on her face, "did you hit her?!"

"Vincent! Pay attention to more important things!" Hala snapped, grabbing a very thick spellbook from the shelf beside her and hurling it over her 'knight in shining armour's' head, startling one of the robbers who'd come running out of the other room with a dagger in his hand. Another two men joined him, running inside and heading straight to take out Vincent. With all of the blades in the way, Hala figured it best to stay out of the fray and ducked back into the corner mumbling prayers and hoping no one would come out dead from this.

Vincent blinked for a moment and then heard the 'thud' from where the book would have collided with the other guy behind him. He chuckled and as the robber tried to compose himself Vincent pounded his fist into his stomach and knocked him to the floor as well.
The other two guys showed and Vincent took a step back, they were both coming at him at the same time. Normally this would be bad but for Vincent, he was happy for this situation--it only helped him look cool. He had it all in his head now, he'd dodge, take a swing, deflect the attack done by the other guy, swing his leg up and knock him over. Then to top it off, grab him and throw him into his buddy, sending them both down.
And this plan? Was exactly what was executed. Fool-proof.

Yes yes, very well done, Vincent. [ /sarcasm] The first man was thrown violently into the second, knocking him out as they both crashed to the floor. In these few seconds as Vincent's back was turned again the final robber showed himself, his eyes widening at his fallen comrades. When Vincent would move to face him too, the tall robber would panic, his only thought to escape safely. He bolted for the door, giving a startled jump as he nearly collided with Hala whom of which grabbed another book off of the shelf by her and held it up almost as though it were a shield. The man muttered "I am not dealing with this..." before he charged at Hala, taking the small woman by surprise, wrapping one arm around her, his other bringing a knife to her throat. "Whoa buddy, listen! None of us are here to make trouble--I'm leaving, and you'd best not come anywhere near me..."

Really? Was it really going to turn into this? Vincent shrugged as the last guy backed away, grabbing Hala in the process.
"Leave the girl here," he demanded, "otherwise I'll mess you up so bad you'll wish you were dead instead."

He gave Vincent an incredulous look.
"Put your weapon down and stay the hell back how 'bout?!" he yelled, taking Hala and backing into the wall. Hala herself kept her eyes fixed on Vincent, her lips pursed tight and tried to keep from panicking herself. Somehow she couldn't help but shake the feeling that things would have gone a little better had Vincent not shown up...

Vincent shrugged again, dropping his blade by his feet. He spread his hands out by his sides to show he had nothing else on him and instead of backing up, he moved to the side of the room slowly.
"You happy now? I put my big scary sword away--now let's talk about the lady you're scaring..."
For good measure, he kept an eye out for other things that could be used as a weapon should he need to use anything. There was a vase. There were books though Hala was flipping through them as her own weapons just fine, and along the walls there were hangings of sorts...
Coincidentally, one very large, bulky ceramic plate sat above the robber's head. Vincent raised his eyebrow, remembering how shaky it was hanging on the wall like it was. Slamming the door the wrong way had it nearly leaping off of its hanging. He kept himself tall, a smile on his face then.
"Let her go first, then I'll let you go," was all he said.

He didn't like the smug grin coming from Vincent, it was almost like he wanted him to run. He kept his hold on Hala and narrowed his eyes at Vincent.
"Perhaps I shouldn't, you bastard. You want me to run but I'm not falling for that. What the hell are you up to?"

Vincent's grin widened then as he responded, "I didn't want you to run."
He balled his hand into a fist and turned, pounding it into the wall beside him. As the walls shook, the massive plate above the robber's head fell loose and right on him, shattering and knocking him out on the spot. Vincent chuckled again as he watched the unconscious man hit the floor.
"Idiot," he shook his head, turning his attention to Hala, "are you alright?"

Hala's eyes widened at the 'crash' of the plate. Once she was released she looked from the mess on the floor to up at the wall, a horrified look on her face. She glanced back at Vincent, her mouth agape.
"Vincent!" she exclaimed, "that was my mother's plate! It was her mother's, do you know how angry she's going to be when she sees this?!"

........So...when did the chick exclaim "My hero!" and leap into his arms?
Vincent blinked as Hala began to scold him about smashing the plate. He looked around at all of the guys piled up on the floor, all of the ass-kicking he had just did. He then glanced back at Hala, still fuming about the decorative plate. Vincent shook his head, completely dumbfounded.
"I...it...he was holding you hostage, woman! What was I supposed to do?!" he finally shot back in between her own snapping.

Hala looked at Vincent with a warning glare. She was going to start yelling at him but caught herself in time to realize that...you know what, he was actually right about something for once. And surely her mother would overlook a stupid family heirloom for the safety of her, right?
...Well, she hoped so anyway. She let the situation roll off of her back and started to giggle a little at the scene around them.
"What were you even doing here?" she asked, looking back to Vincent, "you told me you were working with Yeligar, doing a mission for the Queen of sorts."

OH. OH. This was it. This was the moment he was waiting for. Right? Vincent remembered what Yeligar had said to him before coming out here, fumbling for the box. He had to do this, he had a feeling and it was telling him that this was right. Too right, in fact.
"Hehe, well...that can be explained by uh...um...." he started, trying to figure out exactly how to word it. Damn practice never helped. He chuckled and then smiled at Hala, stepping over broken glass and lifeless bodies and then warmly taking her hand oh god this is a terrible romantic scene in his.
"General Maelstrom sent me on a special mission, to scout ahead while he rallies the troops. It's really just a fancy way of saying he let me take the time to come visit Miss Fraus, look her in the eye and ask her if she would uh..." with no chance of backing out now, Vincent bravely hit his knee before her and pulled out the ring, "...marry me?"

Did she just hear that right? He asked her to...
"Vincent..." Hala spoke softly, pulling her hands up to her cheeks, "I...don't really know what to say. This is the last thing I'd have expected from you, to be honest."
Out of the corner of her eye, one of the robbers came to again and grabbed for a dagger. Hala turned her head, her eyes widening as she hissed, "Vincent!"
