Jasmine nodded. But yes, there was the issue of finding the round tablet and as unfortunate as it was, there was the chance that they very well could be here for a while...a long while...
"I haven't found anything quite yet," she was ashamed to admit, going over what she'd just found in the few moments she had before Andy showed up, "over on this table there was a book or two I looked over...there was a little golden box sitting off to the side I hadn't looked in yet..."
She frowned then and pulled out her spell book, snapping her fingers to cause it to do an automatic search on itself.
"I can see if I have a spell for tracking small objects. If it's nothing too complex and in a room's range we should be able to find it--Mother used to do this all the time when I lost my shoes."

Andy liked the sound of that, it would cut down their search time. "How does it work? I mean, does the spell require anything to help narrow its search down?"

"JASMINE! ANDY! You mates just can't run off from us! You guys are the one that can open the doors around here!" Navarre shouted as he walked the path that he believed they went, and walked right into the treasure room. "OOOOO, this looks nice." Navarre said, as he took a couple of rings and pocketed them.

"Well..." Jasmine stared at the page that her book stopped at and raised an eyebrow. She spent little time studying it as she looked back at Andy and gave him a sheepish smile.
"Ava meya...s-something small and round?!" she couldn't believe just how silly she sounded saying it, but within a moment the book glowed bright and shot a ring of light outwards to cover each corner of the room. In another few moment, every object that matched the description of "small and round" glowed brightly like little lights for them to follow, even conveniently shining through boxes and under furniture.
"Hmm. I-I guess we get looking?" she blinked, somehow thinking she should have changed the wording to 'find the door key'. Would the spell even knew where to look?
Ahhh...well, they'd try this first. It wasn't not working, afterall.

Ahhh, the joys of searching. Mind you, it wasn't quite the usual rendition of the task the detective was used to. No close analytical analysis of events passed, no careful scrutinization of every item in an effort to ascertain any potential connection to the case, no slow and long assessment of the scene. It was kind of a strange lamentation, as business in the P.I. business had been slow in more recent months, and as terrible as it might sound, he missed the sprees of unfortunate happenings, if only because he loved the task of solving them so.
That was all aside the point though, as Dios took to the search probably with a bit more fervour then most others, ducking into the shadows and appearing in one of the empty rooms in some slightly egotistical hope of being the first to find the cyclical tablet that Andy spoke of. Almost in countenance to his first thought, he almost appreciated the simplicity of the task. It was like trying to find the murder weapon of a moron who simply hid it in his house; it had to be here, it was simply a matter of where, and with the help of a few shades that he summoned forth, he was confident that he'd find the item in short order.

As the rest of the party went about their search, the Other slouched against the wall beside the bolted door, his eyes tracing idly across the dull monochromatic room. The hints of history held nothing of interest to him, and to imagine scrounging around like a servant in search of keys was something he refused to stoop to. Besides, from his point of view the mortals seemed to be enjoying their little hunt. He only shook his head, resigning himself to having one more thing he'd never understand about humans.
"I don't know why you mortals are so confident that you'll find the key here at all. After all, if someone wanted to keep this here artifact so safe they'd have to be pretty stupid to leave the key to it in the same place as the artifact itself. I'd have chucked it in the ocean, or better yet, made the key to open the door the artifact itself. Ha! Can you imagine?" The Other slapped his knee jovially as he shouted loudly at no one in particular.

'Guo and his teacher Kurai had generally been keeping themselves to themselves since the end of the short battle that they'd had out in the snow... But now that they were searching for something, he decided it best to get his hands dirty... Or... Cold..? Either way, as he walked forwards to help in the search for this 'key', he heard The Other's comment on what would happen if the artifact was the key, and it caused him to pause, look up at the large creature without a hint of fear or disgust, and cock his head to the side in a look of curiosity.
Unlike others, 'Guo didn't see anything particularly grotesque in The Other. He was a monk that had been raised to respect all forms of nature and life, but either way, he retorted with a simple bout of logic.
"But..." He said brightly. "If the artifact was the key... How could they have locked the door if it was behind the door they're locking..?"

Andy scowled at Navarre, "Dude, seriously. Looting? Now?"
He wanted to argue with him further but once Jasmine's spell was active he was out looking again, sadly everything that was in the was not the tablet, which meant it was in another room...or was not here at all. That could pose a problem if the key they needed wasn't even in here at all, then...something interesting happened. A result of Jasmine's spell being more effective than they thought. A lone bright object revealed itself in the distance...they key they needed was in a room two floors up, and they didn't know it but protected with another magical enchantment.

"Oh for pity's sake, this place isn't very organized, is it?"
Jasmine shook her head as she tore through boxes and climbed over tables and chairs to chase down all of the glittering items that stood out to the group. As she got closer to a wall she started noticing that her spell really did spread through to other rooms, some next door and some...not quite so next door as she looked upwards and realized next time she used this spell she was going to be more specific.
"Maybe we should split up a little here? If the spell falls I can always conjure it up again," she said as she started pointing through the walls, staring upwards she saw the one object glowing above their heads, "...oh for the love of--they're up there, too!"

Andy looked up in the direction of the spell and he blinked, "Wait...that's just one object...one...what if..."
He turned and ran out the door, keeping his eye on the light he began to run up the flight of stairs where the light was shining and ran through the door. There it was, the tablet, surrounded by another magical field but there it was.
"Jasmine up here!"
He turned around and looked at the tablet, his eyes caught something else though...a picture of Kara's mother, with a small round pad underneath the frame...glowing blue.
"...huh..."

"It's not like its that much." Navarre said as he chased Andy towards the glowing portrait. He just looked at it, and then looked at Andy, "So they hid it under the portrait. That's original. So you want to grab it to open the door, or do you want me to do it?"

Andy bolting off to find the object upstairs was more or less Jasmine's signal for "I think we're on to something". She ran out of the room and made to go up the next flight of stairs when she looked over the railing to see the Other still standing around.
"Well, milord, I'm sorry we're boring you! Though with all due respect, we'll be leaving a lot quicker if you helped us out up here! You help me, and I help you go about your 'important business', hmm?" she called out to him, leaned over the railing. She smiled, and watched for some reaction out of him, feeling like she was at a distance enough that should he not take it very well she might still very well live from it...maybe. This is why being polite was always important, and someday she'd teach that to Andy.
Speaking of whom, she had to go find him upstairs. Jasmine hurried to him and stared at the picture frame he and Navarre were in front of, noting the blue panel thing and raising an eyebrow.
"...is this a trick or something?" she frowned, "have any of you tried to physically move it?"

"Jasmine it's guarded by magic, I am actually worried if we did try to move it." he frowned, looking at the pad under the painting...and looked at his hand. "Well...here it goes."
He placed his hand on the pad of blue energy...and the magical field lowered, allowing everyone to get the stone key...
...then it also shot blue energy from the pad up Andy's arm.
"Whoa!" he yelled as the blue energy traveled up his arm and to his sword, the energy moved into the blade and caused it glow bright blue...before it shifted, becoming long and thin. The handle curving and the blade moving to the end until it looked like a long cobalt scythe, the tip frothing with Ice energy...before it morphed back into his huge cleaver blade.
"What...the...hell?!"

"Guarded by magic and worried about physically touching it, hmm?" Jasmine gave a coy smile as Andy reached out to touch the panel anyway, nevermind the magic that the boy had in himself already. Finally it seemed they had the stone key and could find their way out of this creepy place!
And then the blue light shot through Andy and Jasmine's eyes widened. how did this happen? What was going on with his sword?
"Are you alright? Andy?"

"I'm fine I..." he pulled the scythe out and examined it for a moment, he noticed the blade was glowing with a frost like aura and when he scratched it against the ground a thin layer of ice formed where it scratched. As impressed as Andy was, he wanted his old blade back.
How do I get my old blade ba- mid-thought the scythe morphed back into his sword, surprised Andy dropped the blade for a moment. Once he was sure it wasn't going to do anything else he picked it back up. He looked at his sword and at the painting of Kara's mother...and there he saw it, in the painting at her side was a long blue elegant scythe - of the exact same design.
"...I think this scythe belonged to Kara's mom." Even with that revelation Andy looked at the key. "We have the key now...lets get that door open."
