Hala's eyes narrowed as her smile widened.
"Oh, well now that you mention it I suppose I should tell you that Vincent made a surprise visit here despite him having to be on a mission with you--it turns out we're getting married. I hope you're not mad at him for sneaking off on you like he did, though," Hala replied sarcastically as she stepped across the kitchen, "sit down, would you like some tea?"

"Oh no. I am not mad." He said as he sat down, "He got me my reports, so if he did it a little earlier than suspected, I can not dictate what he does on his free time. Do you have any water?"

Hala moved to get Yeligar a cool glass of water instead of the sweet berry tea she would have given him. As she sat it down in front of him she poured herself a cup of tea and smiled at him from across the table.
"You boys and your games--you and Vincent were together in this all along, he told me you let him leave to come see me," she giggled, "but you both make quite an interesting team, I do have to say. How have you been?"

The door then opened again and in walked the only too familiar Vincent, carrying a small bag with him. He grinned as he stepped inside, moving quickly to Hala and almost not realizing Yeligar was sitting at the table himself.
"Hala, I'm back from the mountain--I found these flowers, you said the blue ones did better didn't you?" he asked, a puzzled expression on his face before he turned to Yeligar, "h-hey, sir. How are you?"

"I have been good. You know, beside having to fighting armies." He said, before Vincent came in, "Hello, I am ok. How about you, groom-to-be?"

Vincent's first response was a hearty laugh. He sat the bag he was carrying down on the counter before scratching his head with a dorky smile.
"I'm better now that you're here, sir. You see, when I go around telling all the guys I'm getting hitched none of them will believe me; you're my eye-witness. You know, literally, an eye witness."

"Hah." He said, as he sipped on the water. "So, did you two tell Eva? She must have been so excited to hear."

"That's right, Vincent. I thank you for them," Hala's smile was bright as Vincent stepped into the house. She froze the moment Yeligar brought up Eva--he hadn't been told? That was surprising, the two of them had always been so close, they were best friends when she had met them only a few years ago, anyway. She would have thought that someone would have brought it to Yeligar's attention immediately.
Hala took a long sip of her tea, glancing over to Vincent for a moment before setting her cup down carefully in front of her and staring across to Yeligar calmly.
"Yeligar...you haven't heard from Eva in awhile, have you?" was all she said to start with.

"No, but that is common." He said, "She goes out and does her card dealings, and running that inn, she has a hard time to write to me every time I write to her." He finished the glass of water, and sat it down.

"Yeligar. Eva...doesn't know about the wedding, nor will she be there. She's..." telling this to Vincent was hard enough for Hala, but to tell Yeligar after she'd been friends with him the past three or so years?
"She's no longer with us."
Hala spoke quietly but it felt like every word she said echoed loudly throughout the room, it made it very uncomfortable.

"...What?" He asked, he thought long and hard, before he said anything else. "So, how did she die?"

Hala looked down at her teacup and held it tightly, staring into the cup as she continued to speak.
"I'd picked up the news that she'd been shipwrecked. They've no idea where her body is, they searched through all the rubble and ruins, but that's it. I thought someone would have told you, somehow I thought you should have known long before I did."

"No... I have been busy with the army." He said as he mulled over this information. He couldn't believe that Eva had died. "Thanks for telling me."

"I'm sorry," Hala said over her cup, not looking up at Yeligar, "I know she would have been very happy, though."

"Yea... Can I have some time alone?" He asked, as he got up, "I know that you are engaged in all, and I am really happy about that, but I just need to be alone right now." He slipped on his boots and walked out of the house.
